So the first thing to change are your latency settings. This basically controls the responsiveness of your software.

So the more responsive and tight your latency settings are, the more stress you’ll put on your computer, and the less tight and responsive your latency settings are, the less stress you’ll put on your computer. So finding the right balance is the key.

The next thing to change are your vinyl brake settings. This controls the stopping speed of the track. This setting for me just sounds better and makes stopping a track more interesting.

Anyway, when you scratch you want to have the crossfader to be at its sharpest setting. By default it’s smooth and will cause your scratching to sound like this. Notice how the volume changes. We don’t want that. We want to cut the sound, so we can do stuff like this.

Now not all songs start where you want them to start. Some have long intros, and some just have parts that you don’t care about.

So I’ve adjusted my Serato to load to the first cue point. This setting skips scrolling and going to the section where I need the track to be, and though you can just press a cue point and get there, this settings just skips that step.

Now let’s adjust our hot cue settings on Recordbox DJ, by default this is what happens when you trigger a cue point when a track is not playing *computer demo*. I find this default setting to be not useful at all. Instead we want this to happen *computer demo*

And finally let’s adjust the visual layout of our software. So let’s first work on Serato.

So by default, this is how it naturally looks like, now, this feels too cramped up for me, and I would much rather see the tracks wave forms in horizontal form.

And lastly, let’s move on, to adjusting the visual layout of Rekordbox DJ

So by default, this is how it naturally looks like, I personally don’t like the color and look of the waveforms, so let’s change it.

I agree with all the settings you set on Rekordbox. In fact the RGB waveform is more usefull that the blue one because each color represents a frequency of sound, so if you havent heard a song before it is hell of a lot helpfull to see where you get a lost of bass or snares so the frequencys dont clash with each other

I use all this settings in fact. I use rekordbox whit my rx ddj. I think that all DJ programs have strengths and weaknesses and it is a matter of adapting to what you have at the moment. Regards Carlo

I've used VDJ, Serato and Rekordbox. Out of the 3, from personal experience, VDJ gives you more for your money, it has never crashed on me *knock on wood* and it is very user friendly. Serato video lagged a lot n would crash often, n Rekordbox doesn't have a computer search bar, only collection search which is not helpful when I get requests.
