10 Things I Stopped Buying To Save Money | Saving Money+ Minimalism
My husband and I are in pursuit of FI/RE. For those of you who don’t know what FI/RE is, the acronym stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early. In order to reach FI/RE, we are decreasing our spending and increasing our multiple streams of income. We stopped purchasing these 10 things in order to free up cash in our budget to save for our first rental property.
I don’t want to get too Marie Kondo on you, but we stopped buying things that didn’t ‘spark joy.’
We’re debt-free and on board with spending money if it brings us value, is a good deal and will improve our life.
My new mantra is quality over quantity, which is a huge mind shift change for me. I used to think more was better, but that is far from the truth. If you buy cheaply, you will spend more in the long run because you have to replace the items more often and won’t enjoy the quality of low-grade products.

*As a minimalist, I have learnt that saving is a good thing, thank God I learnt frugal life on time. Well, last year I saved over 100k off things I do not need. I then invested the money into Crypto(through the assistance and supervision of an investment adviser of course) and made a 400k ROI this year . Well I would love to say that; as a minimalist I had realized, it’s a good thing Saving but it’s best saving through investment as it’s helps grow your money and leaves you with a good portfolio as well*

Its so funny you mentioned "the Jones", I just sent my friend the christmas Song "Cozy Little Christmas" by Katy Perri cause the line "we don't have to keep up with the jones" made me think of her family.

Just be careful with makeup- it does expire and expired makeup can really do a number on your skin.

I’ve gotten so much better about impulse buying! I hardly ever purchase something the same day. I did it one time this week, only b/c it was something I’d been wanting to do for a couple months, and I did some research into whether the price was reasonable and what the reviews were like. So I did buy that day. Back in the day if I went into a shop while on vaca, I’d easily purchase a souvenir or an expensive item, no problem. But when we went to Colonial Williamsburg a couple weeks ago, and I saw a cute old-timey hat, even though previously I would have plunked down the money without a second thought before, this time I was like, “um, ok that’s really pricey, plus I’m never going to wear it” so I didn’t take a second look. I’ve come a long way!
