Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic condition characterised by unusually high blood glucose levels in the body. Dr Kalyan Kumar, Consultant-General Medicine and Diabetology at Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital in Jamshedpur, discusses Diabetes Mellitus and its reasons in this video.
Diabetes typically occurs when the blood sugar level increases due to the pancreas's inability to produce enough insulin in the body. Diabetes is classified into two main categories: Type 1 and Type 2. Other forms of diabetes include neonatal diabetes, gestational diabetes, and maturity-onset diabetes (MODY).
The specific signs and symptoms the patient experiences are weight loss, increased urination, abnormally increased appetite, and more. Insulin is an intrusive treatment for diabetes, particularly in Type 1 instances. In most long-standing diabetic cases, the medication becomes ineffective after a certain length of time, necessitating the use of insulin for further therapy.
Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that is clinically identified by your physician on the basis of several reports and evaluations. Also, there is no need to perform self home tests for diabetes as expert’s attention is a must in this case!
