I love your hair so much Rylee! It’s amazing how good you are doing with your t1d. I have a chronic illness as well, and it took me like 2 years to get things under control. I also agree that it’s hard mentally some days, it really hits me when I see people doing things that I can’t/should do like eating certain things like you said. Love you!

I was 22 y.o. almost 23 when diagnosed with t1d around a month ago in the middle of university, as Rylee said you put a lot of work but it is not showing because your body cannot get enough glucose due to lack of insulin that happened to me in the middle of exams, it is hard in the beginning as it appears to me but every hardship in this world can be overcome with courage. Stay strong everyone

Rylee, what a special young lady that you’ve become. By the grace of God you can live out a fully fantastic life. My little sister was diagnosed with type one childhood diabetes when she was very young. Today she is a mother of Five and lives a beautiful life with the help of family, friends and most importantly her relationship with Christ Jesus our savior. You keep strong and happy. I have been type 1 diabetic for almost 40 years. I love my Omnipod and Dexcom and you can set it to different amounts for when you dance etc. Once on the pump you stop using the lantus. Also, when your blood sugar starts to drop you can stop the pump from giving you insulin for a certain amount of time to stop low blood sugars. I fought getting pump for years but now wouldn't go back!

My boyfriend was diagnosed with diabetes when he was six, and now he's 18 and we've been together for almost three years. The most important things that I learned were how his mood is effected by his bloody sugar, how to administer his emergency glucose shot, and how to take care of his Ketones if they're high (and the warning signs for high ketones). I've checked his sugar before, and I also help him to pack his diabetes snacks.
Also, my boyfriend has a pump (I think it's one of the newest medtronic models) and it's super sturdy and he likes it because he doesn't have to pack the syringes and have to inject himself with every meal because his insulin is literally on his person at all times. and one sight every three days was better than a needle every meal/snack.

Rylee, your perspective is so positive and refreshing! My husband has been type 1 for 30 years, i met him as a T1D in high school ❤️ Something that has helped us tremendously is we’ve joined a monthly T1D meetup group, all ages are included and it’s super nice to meet people going through the same thing and knowing you’re not alone ! I've had type 1 for 9 years now. I, like you, was a dancer when I was diagnosed and too I found a tubed pump to not work for the amount of hours I was dancing. I did MDI (injections) for the first 6 years of my diagnosis. I liked it and it's what worked best.

Hey Riley, make the people who are close to you know about your DM, so if you are having symptoms of low sugar they know what to do. Not casual friends but ones you really hang with. Keep up the good work!!!
