20 years with type one diabetes and the one thing I have to say celebrate and full acknowledge and take in the GOOD days (when you have them)... It's taken me a long time for me to be kinder to myself and I'm still working on it everyday. sending love to rylee <3

Rylee’s talking about everything she can’t eat and Sage is like “have you tried this paper towel? I think it’s delicious”

As a type 1 diabetic I see where Rylee is coming from. Its really hard to see everybody just eating whatever and are fine, and you have to bolus and count your carbs. I've had T1d for 7 years now I'm now 15, and it gets easy at times but there are somedays where legit everything diabetes just goes wrong and I know how tough it is and how it can affect you. Always remember how strong you and how amazing you are because not everybody can handle what we go through! You are so strong Rylee and you got this! 😊

I've had T1D since I was in 5th grade (am 16 now). The thing that made the biggest difference to me was when I got an insulin pump (mine is an Omnipod). The freedom of a pump is life changing; I can snack and if I eat more than I thought I would it's no big deal, I just press a couple buttons and I'm all good. I also wear a Dexcom, and my finger only gets poked on occasion. It's still rough, and there are plenty of bad days but it's just a part of my life now, and I promise it gets easier, and you will find what works for you!

As a type 1 diabetic myself, I’ve found that investing in a food scale might be a good option. On the back of each package by the serving size there is how many grams are in the serving size. You just put like a bowl or something on the scale, then tear it, then weigh out your chips. It makes it so much easier it also helps with blood sugars because you know that you are getting exactly the right amount because things like chips are different sizes and they may weight different amounts. :) Just a little tip!

I love how Sage is like, "Uumm..can I get into the view frame here?" 6:16....she's precious and Rylee..sweetie...so proud of the way you're handling your diabetes...it's a balancing act and as time goes on, you'll get better at handling it and better at predicting events that may happen in the future...just be kind to yourself...eat right, get plenty of rest and exercise my love!!! xo

Riley I’m so proud of you and how you are handling and educating others about T1D. I’ve lived with T1D for 39 years and was diagnosed at age 17. You are lucky to have so much technology today to help you manage it. Keep up the good work and keep on inspiring others.

For anyone who’s interested:
I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for nearly 9 years now. I just want to make a note saying that following a “keto/low carb” meal plan might work for some diabetics, but it’s not always the case. Like me for instance, I follow the Mastering Diabetes “high carb/low fat plant based whole food” meal plan. On average, I eat maybe 200-300 carbs per day. And my insulin bolus/basal rates are very low (i.e. 5 units for 100 carbs). There are loads of meal plans/ways to control blood sugars that isn’t low carb (which to me felt very restrictive).
Just wanted to throw this out there.
Keep up the good work Rylee.

You are so brave Rylie! I understand completely about weighing everything. It sucks! I was just diagnosed yesterday with type 2 diabetes. I had it while i was pregnant with all three of my children. Its really hard. But you are so brave. I'm so glad i found your channel.

I loved watching this video and thought that it was mega hilarious! I loved Lindsay trying to get the tea on Rylee’s love life, those older siblings do that

I keep a Keto lifestyle and have found some things that I can have that help so much! One is Carbonaut bread, they even have a gluten free option. It's really good! They even have hamburger and hot dog buns and are coming out with bagels. The other thing is A La Madre low carb corn tortillas. Game changer! I can have tacos and enchiladas again! And you can fry them to make tortilla chips and have with salsa or guac! So wonderful!!!!

I feel for you Rylee, I have been Keto for 2 years. My diabetes is type2 and I had hypertension. Haven't had bread or chips or pizza in 2 years. But it is certainly worth it. Keto works. Keep it up and you will be better for it.

I am now off all medication and my blood work is all great. I know that will not be an option for Type 1..but you will be much more able to control your insulin with low carb.

I feel for Rylee when she was talking about having to choose what to eat. I am pregnant and diabetic and it is so hard not being able to give in to cravings b/c it would raise my sugar. I have to plan everything I eat.
