Is Intel Dying?

Honest conversation.

I asked you guys which CPU you would be buying and y'all overwhelmingly chose AMD over Intel. It got me thinking... when is the last time that Intel genuinely did something exciting? Especially involving CPUs. It feels like they've been on a huge decline for years now. Is Intel dying?

So in this we talk about what is going on with Intel CPUs, their possible future, Intel Arc graphics cards, and Intel's other areas of business to see if that red line on the stock market could start turning green. Other companies like AMD and Nvidia have continued to improve, so what's going on at Intel? Let's Talk

==JOIN THE DISCORD!==

0:00- Stock market go brrr
0:45- People are buying AMD CPUs over Intel
5:20- Intel seems desperate
6:32- They completely rebranded... why?
9:24- Meteor Lake might be cooking
13:10- More Intel Arc Graphics plz
14:50- Intel does more than just make processors...
16:40- What's goin on at Intel?

They set the industry back years sitting on their "break glass when AMD catches us" strategy. Nvidia did the same, the 3080 shoudl've been the 2080. Apple switching to ARM was a hammer blow for them too.

"I'm trying to think of a disadvantage to the 7800X3D"
Gotta ask UserBenchMark to make that up, chief

Hope the competition goes on, it's better for everyone that way.

they did play dirty by forcing vendors here in malaysia to sell less AMD boards (they literally have 1 1/2 of the shelves full of Intel boards while the remaining 1/2 is for AMD boards, so dirty)

I think Lisa Su deserves a lot of credit, she made a lot of smart moves and turned the company around. I have had AMD chips and Intel chips and I was happy with both brands, I usually try and build the best bang for the buck system with the highest performance I can afford. Supporting AM4 for so long was a great decision, I think this will pay off for AMD long term and a lot of people switched back to AMD because of this move.

If you have a Microcenter nearby then 7800X3D is unbeatable value, CPU RAM and mobo for $450 USD is really good!

Intel 13/14 in a nutshell:
CPU itself = more expensive
higher power consumption = more expensive
ILM bends heat spreader > custom contact frame = more expensive
hotter > bigger cooler = more expensive
boards = more expensive
short-lived sockets > constantly new MB = more expensive

I do really like the Intel Arc GPUs. Picked up the Arc A770 and have had no issues with it and it was less than $400. While as if I wanted to go Nvidia or AMD i'd of been spending three times as much where I live. I really hope they continue with it as the gpu market really needs more competition.

One of the main reasons ive held off upgrading my PC is the fact I have to buy a new motherboard and CPU. If I had an amd system i could just slot a new CPU in

For me, power efficiency is something i factor as GPU's and CPU's make a significant impact on power bills in countries where power isn't cheap. Intel relaxed when it shouldn't have, and will be paying for that for a while.

Intel work on Arc really is worth respect

but i have to agree that their CPU side has been really lacking...

i mean i am myself running Xeon E5-2697v3 on a chinese X99... and really i don't see that masive point of going with anything based on LGA 1200 or LGA 1700 - for what? for jump to DDR5 on LGA 1700 or nothing that big?

Processors, like many things today, need to take a break from yearly releases and take 2-4 years to develop something worth upgrading to

I think a lot of the Nvidia v Amd story is also about people just realizing that a monopoly is to their disadvantage and people have become better consumers and will pick a competitor because they understand the larger picture at play

When I was a kid you picked your gpu based on the colour of the box green v red and now we actually think it through and look for a created that, as well as content creators

I run a 13900k, and I've had a lot of success capping the TDP in bios. I have my TDP capped to 225 watts, less than HALF what the CPU normally consumes according to your graphs, and I get cinebench scores ABOVE what the default score for a 13900k normally is. I could be doing something wrong or just have been very lucky with my chip, but I think the real issue is just that Intel's automatic throttling is FUBAR. Limit the CPU to where it never needs to throttle, and it will perform significantly better, and as an added bonus you save a ton of power even compared to AMD.

Ryzen AM4 was so amazing and consumer friendly in terms of upgrade...I will always support them for that alone never mind the better value ATM

I remember AMD used to have high clock speeds and run extremely hot. How the tables have changed.

I bought a Ryzen 5600x at launch and man iam glad choose this one. My 3070 is almost 100% but the cpu chills at 35-60 % utilization. I will never ever be a fan of anythhing anymore, wether of gaming companies or chip makers. from now on i will only buy the best bang for my money.

there's 1 reason i would buy intel cpu it's video editing there media encoders decoders is just insane and rly powerful that's the only field intel have advantage at(hope amd catch up to this tbh)
beside that no way i would even consider intel at this point unless they have better to offer

Some of the naming conventions for both Brands are simply confusing.
