Heya pals!

Ludum Dare 48 has come and gone, so here's a little video write-up about how I went, and what came out of the weekend. I had a blast trying to make such an ambitious game in such a short amount of time, and made a surprising amount of progress. Follow-up project, here we come! This time I'll really try to keep it under 2 months... But we never know with these things haha.

Beware, it's a little rough!

This video features clips from my stream. Catch it live: Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri 1-6pm AEST.

Later, pals!

Any kind of RPG is so ambitious to get even the core systems built over the course of just one weekend, I'm very impressed

It blows my mind that you (and others of course) can bust out a game prototype in 48 hours. Its easy to get down on yourself for the things that were not perfect about a project, but holy cow: you need to give yourself credit for all the things that went well with the game prototyping! Very inspirational, and I look forward to more details on this project and any other content you share. Keep up the fantastic work pal!

This is great, I've just started making a tactics game myself and it's crazy how far you got in such a short amount of time. Big props my dude

There was a game with this concept of everyone moving at the same time. I remember it from Playstation1. It was called Vandal Heart. It even had a part 2 also on PS1. It had these satisfying blood animations when you kill an enemy. It had a good story too.

The range of skills and knowlwdge needed for this is enormous, and the fact you can get it done in two days is mind-boggling. I created a tactical RPG, I did everything apart from the assets. It is on Steam now, it is far from perfect and it took me years! :)

Looks like it's gonna be a great game! Really like the enemy recruiting idea with perma-death

I'm absolutely astonished by what you managed to do in 48 hours and i'm hyped to make an isometric game myself. Theres really nothing to critisize on your accomplishment here top performance as far as I can see. Scope management maybe if you're unhappy with what you could deliver but the fact that you delivered what you did in that short amount of time is great. I'm very impressed.

Great work Adam! Can't wait for the finished version.
I had your stream open for most of the jam. Thanks for helping to keep me sane while I worked on my own entry.

the desire to make a tactics rpg is what made me come back to game dev and pixel art

This is great and inspiring! I'm just starting to learn some of this stuff and glad you've put the time to present what you've got/see a window into your thoughts.

I just wanted to say thank you! As a pixel art lover and recent starting my pixel arts and game projects, your techniques and point of view on how pixel art works has been a HUGE help and inspiration for myself!
Thank you very much!

Thanks for doing all these videos. Really helps motivate me when I'm just not feeling it while I work on my first game. You always have very useful tips especially with the pixel art. Appreciate what you do man. Keep it up.

Oh yuss this is such a good idea. I feel like the blueprints set out by FFTactics still have so much potential that other tactical rpgs haven't really capitalised on.

It was fascinating watching you build it in realtime. I missed so much of the second day, but it looks amazing! Can't wait to play it on release! ☺️

Very cool devlog/post mortem :) I love the game, it is very impressive. I also find the idea of an isometric game quite difficult. I hope you'll do more jams in the future!

That's really neat, good job.
As for feedback, you may need a system for both feedback in game design, art, sound, or whatever else you would want it to have and a separated bug report (in the same form, mind you), with options so that people wouldn't report the same bug in their own words each time. They would check where they found it, and which components may have triggered that bug. Then you could have, of course, something telling you how many people reported that one bug, that other bug, etc.
I don't know how "bug reporting" is handled these days, if there's something that would do that for you, but if you want to build something that could help you in future jams...
