How To Generate Effortless Power On The Tennis Serve

How To Generate Effortless Power On The Tennis Serve. Reaching the trophy position on your tennis serve is one of the main fundamentals in having a good serve. The trophy pose is basically the throwing position for the serve, we want to feel like we have the racket in the same position that we'd reach if we were to throw a tennis ball. When you study the best tennis players in the world, the players with the best serves all reach a good trophy position. This ensures they have the best throwing mechanics prior to extending upwards to the contact point. A common error that many tennis players do on the serve is they either have the waiters position where the strings open up towards the sky or they drop the racket behind their back and have a pause in that position.
Both of these errors cause a major loss of power on the tennis serve. Instead you should be aiming to reach a good trophy pose but pass through that zone using a continuous motion. This will help you create momentum which will then help you increase your racket head speed which translates into more power.
A continuous service motion will help you generate effortless power on your tennis serve. When you have a break in the motion, you then destroy that momentum and have to restart it again, causing you to use more force from the muscles and this will lead to more tension.

That third picture of Pete @ 1:13, my wife took, back when they had a tournament in L.A. called the Mercedes Benz Cup. It was on the grounds of the UCLA campus and we had awesome seats right next to the court...as you can see.

This is a coach I like very much. I watched these videos of tennis technology and my tennis skills have improved dramatically. The coach's explanations are accurate and detailed, and people understand it quickly.

Thanks for uploading this video! When I can get to the courts, I am going to practice what you said about the continuous motion instead of breaking the chain of energy. Favorite tennis channel! 🎾🎾💜💜

Thanks for the tips. Now i now why i tear my bursa tendon. I switched my trophy position to Andy Roddick style because it gave me better timing, without having/building a good shoulder muscle. Switching back to 1 full (non-stop) trophy position really gives me effortless and PAINLESS power. 🙏🙏

i think was a first rate video and discussion. What would be even more helpful would be a sideview of this serve. What would be the MPH of your serve? Sounded like a cannon went off!! I subbed today and look forward to more videos.

Great video as a coach I try to get people to understand only toss as high as as the distance of your racket at it's highest point plus the the elevation of your push off the ground. Any higher creates a non needed pause/hitch in your motion.

Too short of toss you rush, too tall you have to wait. Sherapova needs to watch this video lol

This video is excellent.
