Some of this is due to kids not being allowed to be kids anymore. I was a very hyperactive kid in the 80s and now I'm a hyperactive adult. Instead of putting me on medication, my doctor and mom changed what I ate and my mom found creative ways to redirect my hyperactivity. I've seen kids doing normal kid things, such as excitedly raising their hands or shouting out answers in class be labeled as troublemakers. Most kids aren't meant to behave like tiny adults. Instead of automatically medicating them, learn how to treat kids like kids and actively address issues.

Please point out a time in human history when parents have not been stressed 😅

I have to agree. I was an unknowing product of this behavior for generations and have realized that I may have carried this on. Understanding this, I have made it my mission to do what I can to bring awareness and fix it. That’s the best I can do. 🙏🏾

ADHD actually shows up on brain waves, and neurotherapy 'biofeedback' helps to get kids and adults back to refocus and be grounded, I m not sure it's triggered by just stressed parents, could be stress anywhere!

Parents weren’t “more stressed” during the days when most people were starving and dies young? Or the World Wars Or the Great Depression etc?

He has the answer to everything...doesn't he? Don't forget: he was a practicing GP, that's all, which does not give him the license to pretend to know everything.

As a parent this puts a put in my stomach. I need to lead by example and prioritise my day carefully.

The damn 10 second dopamine hits from the phone. And before that, the TV.

because the pharma pays good money to have their drugs prescribed. And parents prefer to have their kids numbed down than paying attention to them.

Be sure to see Dr. BARKLEY'S video about how Mate is BSing about ADHD and how he does NOT rely upon science, reality or integrity.

I agree. The family unit has been broken in America. People are barely able to put food on the table. Couples are either fighting or divorcing over the stresses of life. Unaffordable healthcare, holding down several jobs to make ends meet while others work the system off tax payers backs, affordable housing is non existent and yes, the kids suffer. The system is broken. Our president is senile. God Bless America. We send billions to fund wars without the taxpayers consent yet there are elderly and homeless veterans walking our streets.

The other reason(s) is that anyone that complains of inattention to a psychiatrist is diagnosed with ADHD.
Neuropsych testing is the real way to test for ADHD, but 99% of people won’t do it, and psychiatry loves to dispense pills for whatever symptom is self-reported to keep the business rolling in.

Until very recently...I too was skeptical of this viewpoint. I'm a fan of Barkley. I've literally spent, at this point, THOUSANDS of hours reading ADHD studies and all related literature I can get my hands on. I think both sides of the framing are "correct." They're both simply looking from different vantage points and missing the obvious integrative answer. Children with adhd are almost always prone to some form of overactive emotional responses, autoimmunity, allergies, and what forms one of the best frameworks for ADHD is simply a child wired with very particular genetic propensity (MTHFR related snips, RCCX encompassed mutations, etc) crashing "head first" metaphorically speaking with a chaotic early developmental environment (often leading to symptoms later on in life we do now diagnose as CPTSD.) Genetic propensity activated through epigenetic changes (meditated via their environment) = ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, etc + a whole plethora of clearly associated condition of the immune system, digestive system, nervous system, muscular/skeletal etc. (Also often in some unique way, quite brilliant. "Gifted") 👀

Reflexes are simply retained. Yes, stress but it is called the Moro reflex which you might know as the flight or fight response. It is the Spinal Galant reflex, once intergraded the focus is on and the hyperactivity is off. 😊
Tada!!!! No pills 💊 0 negative effects 🎉

Because more information is out about it so ppl are more sensitive to seeing ADHD. Instead of seeing it as a disorder, play with the idea that ADHD is simply a genetic component geared to gather as much new information as possible. The reason it's considered a disorder is because they have a hard time in certain environments that require building and stacking information- for example, school systems require repetition and the building component of information - it's less so about going out and spontaneously gathering new.

Studies also indicate that a lot of kids who get diagnosed with ADHD are kids who start school earlier therefore they're a little more hyperactive and less emotionally regulated.

If this is true the implications are vast and terrifying.
