Despite the material he was given in the later seasons, Conleth Hill does a fantastic job with what he has. That slight sense of comfort he portrays on Varys's face, when Tyrion places his hand on him. He goes from purely resigned, to a hint of optimism. Not just the comfort of a friend, but realising that in Tyrion's reluctance, is hope for the future. That if things play out like he foresees, Tyrion might be the one to prevent it.

Seen Varys die is hard. He was one of the few characters that could see what was right for everyone. He didn't need magic to see what needed to be done. And never hid the fact if he made a mistake. What a shit way for a great character to go...

Drogon cranked that fire blast up like he took it personally when Varys tried to poison his mom

3:38 Stoic Jon gets out a few sticks and bag or marshmallows. "No need to waste a good fire..."

As poorly written and rushed as the final 2 seasons were overall, I find Varys’ death to be an oddly well thought out scene. He doesn’t scream, cry or beg and flail about madly like others we’ve seen on the show before their deaths. He’s as calm and collected as ever but with a distinct air of… Disappointment. Disappointment at the betrayal of a good and genuine friend, disappointment that after all the years of spying, spinning his webs and working his way up the social ladder that this is the way it ends. He knows his time is up, and he’s done everything he can up to this point. No point in begging now. He settled his affairs, removed his rings and awaits his death. Game over for the Spider.

Possibly the smartest person in all of GOT, even Tyrion got blinded by feelings and false hope. Shame he died in vain!!!

3:40 was when Jon really started to question Dany's actions.

I think that Dany killing Varys was symbolic of how she had turned against the realm in her lust for power. Varys was always the one who actually served the realm. It was at this moment that everyone began to question just how far she had gone and it eventually lead to her death.

It was quite beautiful watching drogon emerge from the darkness.

Bit of an error him setting fire to a document, then putting it in a dish and putting the lid on, promptly snuffing out the flame and making what writing is left legible for anyone wanting to decipher it.

Tyrion betrayed his best friend for a tyrant, I really like Tyrion overall but this scene had me disappointed in him.
Varys was a great character, stayed true to who he was and was one of the few who really wanted the best for everyone.

Drogon gets close and sniffs like, “wait, I thought he was with us? Oh well, mother’s orders”

Varys showed compassion for Ned Stark when he was imprisoned and soon to be killed, in the exact same position as here. Varys deserved mercy.

Another terrible writing decision. Can I just start writing shows for HBO?

The one character I felt did what he always had to do for the "common people" not himself.
