My man is a Lae'Zel simp AND a Gale hater?

Bro be like, "I can tolerate child murder and racial supremacy, but this man tried to make me read and that is unforgivable"

Counterpoint: Gale likes it when I do unambiguously good acts, and I simply cannot bring myself to be mean to the people trapped in my laptop

That was an utterly perfect ending, sir

"I hate this character because they remind me of me & I don't like me" is very relatable.

Okay, to be fair, he's very clear that he didn't do it for love. He's very open about 'I could see the 10th level spells, but Mommy Mystra said no, so I decided to take matters into my own hand and do something that would totally get her in the mood to make me a demigod.'
This does not really make me like him more, but like... it is a true statement.

I have Astarion in my party at all times and Gale most of the time, and, let me tell you, their combined reactions to everything my chaotic neutral/evil PC does are hilarious. Where Wyll would be straight up fuming or collapsing on the ground to have a good cry, Gale just acts like a disappointed dad. Or someone stuck babysitting two unruly rogue elfchildren.

I love Gale because he has the energy of a man who has never had his peers tell him no before in his life but NOT the pigheaded stubbornness of one. Like, being able to be his friend does not prevent me from telling him he fucked up and he is surprised yet receptive in response to criticism. He's a perfect example of a decent man blind to his iwn flaws but willing to work on them when made known and i platonically love him for it.

counterpoint: I had a Wizard in a DND campaign named Gale before BG3, so I am legally obliged to like him.

Its been very funny in my first playthrough where Gale has repeated come up asking if we 'wanna make magic happen wink wonk' despite my character openly, proudly, and very loudly being the reason Astarion always has the Happy buff.

"A very Phallic Iceberg" is a phrase I'm going to have significant difficulty escaping from, so thanks for that.

'Can he get it' was basically the entire section of the video.

"Yes, but here's why he shouldn't."

Went over to talk to him once and we started talking about his cat and OUT OF NO WHERE THE CONVERSATION WENT SEXUAL. I was forced into the dialog option that said “f*** you and your cat” because every other option was SLEEP WITH HIM, brother in Christ I am saving my self for Karlach leave me alone

The packrat thing is so relatable, I Finnish my first playthrough with ~10 pounds of weapon oil that was just sitting there.

A touch of the 'tism had me ROLLING. Gold stuff, again. Your sense of humor? Impeccable.

I both am deeply excited and deeply terrified of a future Shadowheart roast aka best religious zealot girl

Look, I know it is a packrat sin to hand over any amount of loot that isn't gold for more loot, but he needs like, three of your crappiest magic items and it will be "fine" from there (aka you don't got to feed him no more but then no amount of magic items will help his itch).

Look, I get he suffers from some major ego issues, but the guy just sucks at communicating (take it from me who is already on playthrough #2 and currently has 260+ hours in this beautiful game). He just needs to be humbled a little. Dont be a dick to him, but reign in his ego when he starts talking crazy. Good guy but with a fair bit of baggage and suffering the early magic prodigiousness of his childhood.

As a Gale simp, I think there is a lot of misconceptions with him, he feels he has to over perform to seem appealing to anyone and everyone. His flowered words his magic, all a performance in order to make the viewer think he’s extraordinary when in actuality he is just that, but he also is flawed like the rest of us. He strives for nothing but perfection, greatness and has an unrelenting hunger for any and all knowledge and he even admits that’s his folly. He’s a victim of a power dynamic, as is all the other companions. So I think that you have to go into Gale with some nuance. That’s my take at least but he’s my personal favorite so take that with a grain of salt

Though it's funny, everyone kept saying Gale hit on them all the time while they were romancing other characters, but despite having high approval with him he never did that with me, not even in the scene where we watched the night sky before the battle with Moonrise Towers. All he did was talk about how scared he was about the idea of his impending death and if I'd sit up with him so he wouldn't be alone with his thoughts, to which I was like "Of course buddy, what are friends for?" The closest it ever came to being somewhat romantic was when he was being poetic about the night and he talked about the "fantasies of lovers" and looked over at me as I was looking up and smiled, which at most seemed like maybe he had feelings but was being respectful about my relationship with Astarion and not confessing.

The extremely goofy part is that he isn’t lying about any of it, so his sob story deserves shame, not pity or disbelief. Man fumbled the single biggest bag in existence, WILLFULLY. You had a literal goddess in love with you and did the single thing she asked you not to! HOW DO YOU DO THAT???
