I'll still stick by the fact it was FAR worse in EA where he just picked a random piece of your loot and demanded it lol. At least now you can hang onto some basic +1 stuff and feed it to him.

I ended up getting some enchanted artefacts right away so that I have them for when Gale gets hungry. At least there’s a merchant in Emerald Grove who sells some. I did get a bit annoyed when he took my gloves which were actually quite good, but I love him so I’m willing to do it for him.

If you play normal you get more amulets than you ever need, plus old and usless armor that your party never uses again. (Ps little spoiler its not many max 4 i read)
