Thank you so much. Your video is the first I've found where someone talks in basic language for a beginner like me. I do now understand preparation.

There's a program I use called Post Haste, which will take the dummy folder structure you reference at 3:59 and every time you start a new project, it will automatically create the project folder structure, along with changing any folder names you want it to, to match the project name you assign. Its super great for stashing template projects named "template.drp" for instance, and auto renaming them to match the project name you set when you use Post Haste. A HUGE time saver.

This is something we normally don’t pay much attention to, and then we get crazy when looking for something. Great video, man! Thanks 🙏

All great tips- I always have a smart bin that is set to Timeline > enabled and that way I don't need to remember where the timelines are - they just all appear in the smart bin. To those people that try the dragging in the folder structure and it doesn't work - it's because you have to drag it into the left column where the bins are listed. If you drag and drop on the right it won't bring in and create all the bins.
Good stuff Jay. These kinds of videos will be good for your channel - keep it up.

This is so important and so misunderstood. Kudos! More of these!

This was really helpful, even though i'm kind of mid-project.

Past this portion - I've been trying to figure out the best way to archive my projects if I have already organized my folders like this. But often times, I use a SFX or VFX file I forgot to add to my folder outside of resolve. I wish resolve had the ability to check inside of a certain folder to see if a file existed - and if it didn't it would just use the same folder structure from within the software to copy it to the actual hard drive.

Do you have a video on installing Davinci across hard drives? For example, i have seen people install on C: but have an assets drive and a third drive for exporting to. The idea being you dont clog the PCI lanes. Do most people install the database on C:?

If you work with 8K RAW 60 from Canon R5C, then I would recommend a AMD 7950x and a 4090 as with that it works really smoothly.

just wondering in terms of Davinci Resolve can we allocate to another drive storage media location besides the main os and apps

I wish the Media page wasn't so slow to work with. I know it can be very powerful, and I definitely use it for meta tags and to prep my footage but there are some things which are just faster elsewhere in the app. Even cloning SD cards in it doesn't keep my organization structure which makes me sad.
