Thoughts on team reviews? Like you take viewer submissions and tell them how it can be fixed. This way, we can learn what you should and shouldn’t do during team building, not just a few examples

I know you only really do these deep dives once per season/gen, but I totally love them. Thanks for putting all the effort forth.

“Blunder’s good at Teambuilding because he doesn’t throw EVs in 4 or 5 stats.”
Meanwhile, Emvee is silently sitting in the corner, sipping on some wine.

Love how Joey defends 80% accurate Iron Bundle Hydro Pump, but also prefers Focus blast over aura sphere.

Some of my favourite videos are these teambuilding guides. Would love to see new ones for each DLC/Major meta shift to catch people up who miss this first one!

About two days ago, I messaged a friend asking if he wanted to try competitive Pokémon for the first time. Neither of us had ever touched that side of the game (aside from me EV training a few Pokémon in Sword) so we wanted to try it out with no prior experience.

We only talked for about an hour, but in that time we talked about using a Kingambit (his favorite new Pokémon) and a Slowbro (my favorite) in doubles as a trick room/defiance sweep combo. This idea was created with no prior knowledge of the competitive scene at all.

Now I’m sitting here 3 minutes in and he’s already brought up Kingambit trick room sweeping as if it was chapter one of the Pokémon SV Comp Scene textbook

Boy have I got a lot to learn. Thanks for the videos dudes!

Joey as you know, I have learned to play and build teams from watching you guys. I still have s long way to go but still would like to share my experience involving learning a new meta. I would love it if this helped people -

1) One thing that's a bit intimidating is learning a new meta. For me experience is the most important aspect. I always say that pull up with Webs or any lead offense team and learn the meta by playing. I prefer learning the meta this way as Offense doesn't require to be as fine tuned like balance and is easier to build if you have a lack of meta game knowledge. Say if you don't have answer to big offensive threats like Chian Pao, then your Balance will struggle a lot, but on the other hand, you can cut your loses and out offense Chian Pao. This also improves your play.

2) Just slap on different mons on different teams and see what they do, like I have been just trying out different combinations of new mons based on type synergy that I know. This way you get to know the feel of how the mon fuctions, what it can defeat, what it can switch in on and what it struggles with. For Example - I noticed that, in Electric Terrain, LO Iron Treads is a very good Spinner as it can defeat Air Balloon Gholdengo and Annilape. This goes further when you start recognising what two or three mons work very well together. For example last generation Swampert + Corviknight were a very good pair.

3) Don't be hesitant to use resources like Smogon. You get to know a lot about the general trends, the usual sets etc. Don't be afraid to just use the standard set initially. You can slowly start to see, "Hey if I run this set, it works even better than the standard set."

4) Lastly, when you finally understand the meta and make actual teams with the knowledge you have gained, just try them out on the ladder. Every team requires fine tuning and you only understand on playing what the team struggles with in practice, make changes according to experience and eventually you will end up with a decent team.

I think Leftovers has taken over as the predominant item on Corv with the Roost PP nerf. You need that passive longevity to make the most of the Roosts you have. I also personally prefer the 20 extra EVs in Physical Defense for Bike to help it take priority moves better to give it a better chance to get a shed tail off
