I’ll say this: When Jimmy was in the game at right corner (or either side) the ENTIRE DEFENSE was transformed. He was a shutdown corner. Only reason he wasn’t a superstar was health.

Jimmy to me even in 2019 I was saying IF he’s fully healthy he’s our best CB still. Maybe it was fond memories in part. And if he was there in 2014 playoffs I don’t believe we lose to the patriots by giving up two 14 points leads. Maybe we lose some other way. Any newer ravens watchers, I always try to tell them Jimmy was the truth.

He would have made many more pro bowls and had his name known as a shut down corner early on his career if the ravens woulda kept him on one side only. In 2018, our secondary was scary good. The amount of turnovers they produced was stupid. Weddle, Jefferson, soon to be Raven ring of honor Anthony Levine, Jimmy smith, Tavon Young was looking for a bounce back year after what seemed like his rookie year he was robbed after started so strong. Drafted Anthony Averett who turned into a starter. Not a number 1 CB but starts. Chuck Clark and DeShon Elliot were there. Both great players, especially after learning the NFL is so much more then college ball. Marlon Humphrey was lookin to be the top dog. Brandon Carr came over. Him, Jimmy smith, Eric Weddle, Anthony Levine, and Tony Jefferson were our vets leading a massive class of rookies and second gear guys! Every one of these guys have had big success in their careers besides Tavon Young, but I blame that on him continuing to get hurt. He hurt his neck his 2 or 3 years after playing a few games n was out for the season. Our entire defense in 2018 was something special. I knew 2019 would be special after seeing what Lamar did when he started the second half of the year

I absolutely loved Jimmy smith !
The one thing I hated tho was early on his career the ravens would have him follow around the other teams number 1 and in his first few years that was a rough process. AJ Green smoked Jimmy a couple years there. But he had to
Play the number wr every down. He would get tired

Arguably the first elite corner we had since McAllister and he retired with dignity. Raven’s haven’t even put Chris in the ROH yet.
