So why am I not using the Gregory Border or the Cotopaxi Allpa? Short answer is they’re not comfortable when packed this heavy. My backpack weighs just right over 30lbs & both of those backpacks are not structured to carry that weight. I wanted to be as comfortable as possible since this pack will be with me for the next 3-5 months.

I’m bringing the @rei 40L ruckpack & it actually wasn’t the pack I intended on bringing. A different company had sent me a pack and I loved it at first, but then realized the quality was very poor, especially the zippers. So I ran to REI the day before I left & grabbed this one 😅 Honestly I love it, my only con is it doesn’t have an easy access zipper for the laptop compartment.

Just a heads up in the Philippines depending on what airline, your carry-on should be within 5-10kgs only. Just a fair warning. Enjoy your SEA trip ❤

Y’all big chungus is FINE!!! The cat is NOT left alone! She literally made a video recently about the cat staying with her parents while she’s gone & the parents spoil kitty so much so I promise she isn’t sad OR lonely!

What backpack are you using? I have been trying to find one that fits as a carry-on since most are too big...

Absolutely adore my fellow Filipinos being all excited after you mentioned visiting here haha ❤❤❤ if you're looking for places to visit I personally recommend the following:

1. Calle Crisologo in Vigan, Ilocos Sur: a preserved area that was originally built by the Spanish when they colonized the Philippines. It's a beautiful example of European architecture.

2. Cagsawa Ruins in Albay, Bicol: the remnants of a church that was destroyed by the eruption of the Mayon Volcano in 1814.

Anyone is free to add to the list<3

I think you did well. Nothing really unnecessary. The toiletries you can buy along the way.

One thing to definitely bring. One nice outfit and shoes is a must. And Something comfy you only wear after the days trails, adventures and you are clean!

Hiking boots must be broke in before hand.
Pro Military tip. New boots and socks on hop in al ong hot shower, plug drain. Shower bath whatever for 30 / 45 min. Get out, redress. Take full pack and go for a walk. Come home pack boots full of newspaper as much and as tight as you can. Oil / treat boots. Repeat.

Rain fly for backpack!

Yes you want a bug net! Not just for mosquitoes but roaches, geckoes, the tropics.

Yes you want a silk sleep sheet. Get a double size. Super small and you weighs nothing. Can keep you cool or warm

Leatherman and swiss army knife

All outdoors clothing treat with permethrin / chrysanthemum extract. Take all clothes, silk sleep sheets, bug nets. Put all in a garbage bags and cover them with it. Blow air in tie off and shake it let sit for a few days to a week.

Talk to Dr of Tropic Medicine for shots! Keep shot records with passport. Dengue fever is prevalent at the moment. All mosquitoe illnesses are no joke.

I lived in SE Asia for 9 months backpacking. Living in hostels, tents and the occasional decent rooms with ac.

Ask me for more tips. Have a great time. Always go where tourist fear to tread.

In Laos and Cambodia. Always stay on the path of the water buffaloes! Ask a local.

I'm heading back solo soon. Hopefully by July!
