A suggestion if I may. When cutting a branch from a tree it would be better for the tree if you did a cut under the branch then come down from the top. That way you wont get the branch ripping, and cut as close to the tree as you can. that way the tree will form a scab over the cut, just like you do if you scratch yourself. I enjoy you videos. Good work.

Look at you, Nathan, wrangling cattle! You are a man of many talents!

I've still got my Stanley thermos I've had since before they started putting the carry handle on them. I think around 1980 or 81 or so. Dropping it won't hurt it and if it is unusable after you run over it with the tractor just send it back to Stanley and they will replace it.

Welcome to the world of cattle farming. You worked that calf fine. Nice and slow and not too much noise. Also, glad to see I am not the only person who gets their saw hung up in a tree 😊 Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for taking the time to be with your son. I remember something an older friend told me when our kid was little and I didn’t really appreciate it…..When referring to your kids growing up she said, “ The days are long but the years are short.” Our “kid”is 54 now and I know now I understand what my friend meant.😅😢

I'm all about proper tree pruning. My dad taught me as a kid. My husband always thinks I'm pruning too much but the trees grow up looking very nice and straight. He's learned that I prune pretty well.

I still have my Stanley Thermos from 1983. I got it the first year I was in the Air Force. I carried that thing for miles out on the flightline in the shop truck. The commander was a machinist, his dad was a toolmaker. They both stopped by the machine shop to do minor projects.
Anyway, we would sit out on the apron behind the last row of hangars and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. Some days we said not a lot, just enjoying the solitude for a few moments. The maintenance radios were always on and soon there was something else that needed his or my attention.
We were like the postman. Neither sleet nor rain or gloom of
Coldest actual temp I saw was 46 below and hottest was 126.
Peace was our profession.
Honest.
Cheers

Man that coffee sure was nice on those cold South Dakota days and nights.😊

I carried a Stanley thermos around for so many years that there was hardly any green left on it, and went through several replacement stoppers.

About 7 years ago my wife bought a battery power (40 volt) Cobalt 8 ft limb trimmer and it worked great. I could easily reach limbs 12 ft off the ground. The price then was about 160 dollars. Have fun and stay safe!

Hello friends, If those maples you trimmed are going to be within the pasture for the cows you are thinking of getting, you should consider putting some kind of fence around the base of the maple trees to keep the cows from trampling too close to the tree trunks. Cattle’s hoofs will eventually expose the shallower roots and kill the trees. Then they won’t have shade on the hot summer days. You may want to research this, but I think I’m correct.🤔 good luck.

My cows don't get out until 3 in the morning and it has to always be a cold hard rain, lol. Nice video. Take care

My dad (rest his soul) was a power lineman. He carried the Stanley thermos. One day, it fell out if the line truck and got run over. Not a total pancake, but it did break the glass vacumn bottle inside. Mom took it to the local hardware store and showed the proprietor. He chuckled..."Dave git mad at his thermos, did he?"...went to the proper shelf, grabbed one and handed it to Mom. "Lifetime warranty." That was back in the '60's...dunno if you'd get the same response today, though. Just sayin...

PS: Dad passed several years ago. There was a huge squabble between several of my siblings over who got the two Stanley's he still had. I already had two myself, so I just sat and watched. 😂😂😂

Spring time ... clean up time. Nice reliable thermos. The calf is giving you some warm up practice for when you get your cows.

I’ve had a Stanley Thermos for over 25 years and I’ve used it in my driving job every working day. I tell everyone it’s done more miles than the Space Shuttle 👍🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

Nathan, one thing I notice when you were pouring your coffee from the Thermos a couple times is that you unscrew the lid completely. Actually you don't have to take it out completely. You only have to unscrew it halfway as Stanley has cuts in the stopper that line up with the Name and arrows on the top so the coffee or whatever you have in it can pour out without unscrewing the whole stopper so this way you wont over pour or have the coffee come out to fast and knock over your cup. Just a did you know I thought I would share. Love the video's and keep up the great work. Thanks, Ron

Good going there Nathan. You got it all looking great. You know we have 3 or 4 of those Thermos’s. They are the best! Cool video 👍❤️

the next time that you trim branches make an undercut first then when you make the top cut the bark wont peel off and damage the tree thanks for the videos and im sure the momma cow is pleased to have her calf back

Could have run those small branches through the chipper, made compost, or picked them up & transported w/ the grapple, much less physical handling.
