After we brought mama Maybelle home, she wouldn't stop crying. Our cofounder Jay Weiner returned to the farm to find her five-month-old son Miles. Reunited at The Gentle Barn, we did not think her happily ever after could get any happier but then she gave birth to her daughter, who we named Eclipse. After years of having her babies taken away, Maybelle got to retire at The Gentle Barn with two children to love, protect, and raise for the rest of her life.

It has been such a gift watching Eclipse grow up in our barnyard. Unlike most of our rescues who come in terrified and sick, Eclipse has always been trusting, joyous, and full of life. Unlike the life most cows are forced into, she will only ever know safety, freedom, and love.

Happy birthday, Eclipse! May all cows everywhere have names, birthdays, and families 🎂

Cows are such gentle creatures. Greetings from a cattle ranch in central Texas. If it was up to me, I'd turn it into a sanctuary (but at least I went vegan 7 yrs. ago, to my family's perplexion).
