Wow I would not believe people are this insane if I didn't have evidence right in front of me in the comments, and the takes are so delusional so I don't think there is even a point to try to argue why that "theory" is insane, but I'll point out what is inherently incorrect information in this video:

1. Blackrock does not "OWN assets in all the other companies" and they are not "bigger than amazon or apple" at all. They manage assets in their funds on behalf of their clients, who own the assets.

2. Kinda insane take to call the CEO of largest asset management firm "ultra ultra lefty".

3. Statement that he "Believes in ESG" does not mean anything. ESG to different degrees directly and indirectly affects every relevant financial metric and needs to be considered. Different funds have different purposes and different ESG considerations.

4. DEI is part of S in ESG. In the literature, this has the lowest financial relevance in regards to other financial variables, which are the ones that ultimately affect the most to decision making of asset management.

5. Games referred in the video are owned by public companies, or by companies owned by public companies. They will not "receive funding from blackrock" because this does not even make any sense, as these would not be alternative investments. Receiving funding is not the same as blackrock managing public shares of the company who owns the game in their funds.


6. "This company increased their ESG score by having DEI game characters, we are going to pump 500mil into this company" does not even begin to make sense.


- this is not how ESG scores are calculated.
- the effect is so minimal for the ESG score it would be less than 0.1% change in the ESG score on average.
-You cannot pump equity capital into company that is not releasing new shares.

If the playerbase truly hates the DEI choices, just vote with your wallet and do not buy skins etc. for such characters - at least if you believe that this is investors decision, as you will be hitting them the only place they care about in their investment. You are already doing so and its not working? Why is that? Well most likely because Mr. CEO of largest asset management firm is not micromanaging ingame content choices (how insane is it that this needs to be spelled out loud), which are instead done by people working in i.e. Blizzard, who have graduated from, lets say, US schools who we all know have gone increasingly towards left. Maybe these people just want to do their thing, despite investor or playerbase opinions. But hey, lets not think critically and blame it on "Ultra lefty asset management CEO" that makes so much sense and is much easier to understand! Cheers.
