It doesn’t necessarily have to go in an office- or, indeed, in the same place as the devices using it. Our NAS (Synology DS718+) sits next to the router, which is in turn connected to the fiber modem. On a shelf below is a gigabyte switch and several satellite hubs, everything being served by a Cyber Power 685 UPS. All this gear is in a utility room connected to our unit. as it is immediately adjacent, about halfway down the length of the dwelling, there are no issues with full 5G wireless coverage in all rooms.

My Synology is on my office desk, but everyone now and then there are some strong vibrations from the desk. Will this impact and potentially damage the disks or NAS ?

Also, never juggle the Synology NAS when it’s in operation or even when it’s off. Never lick the open USB ports or RJ45 ports. And never ever spray windex or other cleaning products into its casing. Also don’t look at it funny because it’s sensitive and may call HR on your @$$, …… :)
