We NEED the one with the backlight! I don't understand why they're not doing it. Many apple fans say to reduce the battery, but my other thin keyboards with backlight survive up to a month

I think there are pluses and minuses on whatever keyboard you use. I usually use custom boards I have built and while I sometimes switch out because from a typing perspective I would rather than a heavy tactile switch, I keep going back to the Magic Keyboard with TouchID simply because I like it for logging in, commerce etc... It's not the best typing experience but I can type real fast on it. This might be because I used a MBP and have the keyboard for my iPad. An Apple custom board that is backlit that is missing a hotswap socket for TouchID would be a dream, sadly I don't see that happening anytime soon so I'll probably keep using the Magic Keyboard.

Wanted to take this route with my iPad Pro 11in 3rd gen along with the plain vanilla version magic kb but ultimately ended getting the Magic KB w/ magnets.

Apple Magic Keyboard is a very good example of form over function as much as possible. $149 for a membrane keyboard?!! They could have revived an Apple Extended Keyboard with that kind of price.

there is a way to control you're iPad and MacBook at the same time with the keyboard just use universal control center it works flawlessly

I'm using Logitech MX Keys with macbook pro, and it's fully compatible. I guess you didn't noticed fn key on the keyboard, you can use it with ie. brightness keys and it works seemlessly. Also you can hit FN + Esc to flip F keys and instead use media buttons without need of holding FN key, so you're review isn't that good.
