Speaker Biography: Dorit Saberi, Ph.D is a Supervising Psychologist and Clinical Director of the Safe Harbor- Trauma Recovery Center at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. She is also an Associate Professor inthe Department of Psychiatry at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) - David Geffen School of Medicine and a part-time faculty member at California State University, Long Beach- Psychology Department. She conducts research, provides direct services, supervision and teaching in Evidence Based Practices adapted for adults diagnosed with severe and persistentmental illness who are high utilizers of correctional, psychiatric emergency and inpatient services, and are homeless or at risk for homelessness and for survivors of interpersonal violencesuch as gang related violence, human-trafficking, and immigration/refugee trauma.

Webinar Abstract: Drawing from the latest research and intervention practices, this presentation will address overcoming burn-out, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma generally, and specifically as related to the COVID-19 era. The curriculum will present research regarding compassion fatigue and concepts from the new wave of positive psychology. The talk will also present a reframe of compassion fatigue utilizing concepts from Community Resiliency Model (CRM), a new conceptualization of Post-Traumatic Growth and Mature Gratitude. The instructional format will utilize videos and anecdotal examples from the work of Safe Harbor- Trauma Recovery Center.
