I'm sorry but I lose it every time Injun Joe jumps out of the window like that. "Well I wonder if Tom's statement was true or not?!" LOL

I remember seeing this movie in 6th grade. I loved it. "Injun Joe" scared the crap out of me at the time.

2:08 is literally the only thing I remember from when I watched this movie as a kid.

Genuinely curious how they filmed this scene. That knife went dangerously close to the actors face. There was extremely little room for error

Two days ago I worked with the actor who played Tom (Johnny Whitaker, now age 62) on a TV shoot. I was the recording engineer, and we spent five or six hours with Johnny getting one scene just right (normal for TV). It was a fairly surreal experience, with a small crew, and me right next to him with a microphone (out of shot, of course). He told me that he was going back to Missouri to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the making of the film next year. I said, "Well, you should wear a life jacket this time." He laughed.

2:10 Christ that’s one hell of a stunt! Look at how high he fell from!

Well, they didn't show the best part of this scene, unfortunately. That would be everyone's reaction and comments after Joe jumped from the window.

The way Injun Joe was glaring at Tom as he left his place at the stand, he was like, "You'd better start praying, boy!"

Joe's just like "Yeah, I'm out"

I remember cracking up in 7th grade class when he goes running out the window and keeps running in mid air as he falls. For some reason that imagine of him kicking and pumping his arms while falling always makes me loose it.

True fact: This is what made them start putting mental detectors at the doors of all courthouses.

2:11 Injun Joe was moving his arms as if he either tried to fly or shoo away a fly on the way out of the window

How the hell did he get that knife through

Thankfully, Injun Joe uses a dagger rather than a Bowie knife like in Disney's 1995 film "Tom and Huck". This scene stays true to Mark Twain's 1876 novel.

This was pretty intense stuff for a six year old boy living in Topeka Kansas!

That was one heck of a jump by the stuntman.

I will admit I did like Eric Schweig's performance of Injun Joe a little more
