I've got one day without alcohol under my belt! I think this may be the most difficult one.

Regarding your comment about yoga and running. I would highly recommend people pair their departure from drinking with an exercise routine. Your mind is going to hate the dopamine/serotonin deficit, and getting a little natural boost of the “feel good” chemicals from exercise can really help level out the stress.

First week AF in 12 years of heavy drinking, my face is less red, I've lost 3lb in weight, my sleep is at least 70% better but I'm still bald ! :(

I think the doing, doing, doing is partly because the opposite would be learning to sit that, for some can be almost impossible. The negative voice in the head can be deafening ! .but learning how to just sit with yourself makes the difference eventually.
Just to BE with yourself.
Being is the new doing!

Sober since new year eve, my biggest habit change is probably that I start to plan my work days to get more done, and to work more efficiently with a clearer sense of direction . The temptation to push myself a lot is big though . I certainly will take what you say into account and try to be confident about being sober, then slightly move onto making other changes, God willing . Thank you for your videos and sharing your experience . Young guys like me pay attention to this.

That's really good advice. The first week or two your goal should be just not drinking, that is a first achievement in itsself.

Thanks Kevin. Your videos inspire me to continue this journey even after my backslides. I hear what you are saying about not trying to change too many things at once. Just focusing on the aspect of what to do instead of drinking is a big enough change at first. Although, I do find the gym is a nice replacement behavior. I was there last night (a Friday night) to avoid a dinner party with drinks happening at my house. The gym keeps me out of trouble and has been reinforcing my efforts to be healthier. Thank you for all you do! Can’t wait to hear what you have to say next.

Good advice.Thats one of the biggest mistakes we make me included. When we start to get well and feel good in our self's we try to make up for lost time.we spent a long time out there so give it lots of time time is a great healer .life dose get better

That is how i succeeded to an extent last time i "quit". I just focused on not drinking for a while. I didn't spin out with too many missions.
