Watercolor actually works really well to stain small pieces of wood. I started using it last year while looking for a cheaper, less smelly alternative. I specifically use the burnt sienna and burnt umber Windsor and Newton watercolors.

Hey Mia... you are crafty... you should try making furniture out of cardboard! and polymer clay would work great for some tiny things too. My mom used to make all the furniture for our doll house out of cardboard cereal boxes .. she glued it together in layers so it was more sturdy if that makes sense). We also made things out of salt dough and paper mache/airdry clay. you can make pictures for the walls really easily with bits of cardboard used to make frames. doll houses are so fun

The small perfectionist side in me is internally screaming about that little thread and about the fact that the furniture is cute but has holes where you join the pieces. So my brain is like: "get the sewing cutters and cut it out! But oh well I couldn't be bothered to fix holes. Whatever..."
