Evaluating the partial sum of a arithmetic series

Показать описание
👉 Learn how to find the partial sum of an arithmetic series. A series is the sum of the terms of a sequence. An arithmetic series is the sum of the terms of an arithmetic sequence. The formula for the sum of n terms of an arithmetic sequence is given by Sn = n/2 [2a + (n - 1)d], where a is the first term, n is the term number and d is the common difference. Where the last term is known, we can use Sn = n/2 (a + l) where l is the last term.

For the students who dont understand why it is 91 it's because you start counting from 10 and not 11, it's like counting from 0 to 10 you'd have 11 numbers at the end.

Wow I thought the "6n" at the very start was a "Gn" and I was really confused where you started getting the 6(10) from later. I thought you were doing some geometric average and pulling the 6 out of thin air... then I realized... that G is a 6.

Does the top term on sigma notation mean the last value or last term number of the series

Do you have video about finding the value of x?

make it easy for your students . nbr of values = (last value -first value)/D+1
in this case nbr of values = (600-60)/6+1=91
easy formula
come from the general form Gn=Go+rN but when we substitute Gn with GL (last value) number of the values in this case is n-1 value ( from 0 to n is n-1 times
the form will be GL=Go+r(N-1) <=> GL-Go=rN-r <=> n=(GL-Go)/r+1
thanks
