Thanks to Nathan for the request via Patreon. This game holds up extremely well, and shouldn't be skipped in favor of either the SNES F-Zero, or F-Zero GX for GameCube...

F-Zero X is one of the best games on the N64. I should note that there was an offcial album filled with heavy metal arrangements based on this game's music.

F-Zero X's soundtrack always had that Satriani vibe to it. Shred guitar and fast gameplay - a great combo!

Its a real minor thing, but thanks for wishing me a good rest of the day.
No bullshit, just some SNES fun and bye. No Raycon, No Raid Shadow legends...

I’m shocked they didn’t call it F-Zero 64

F-Zero X was one of the few and also one of the first N64 games I owned as a kid, so played it a lot! I mostly played the grands prix but when a friend of mine came over and played the death race mode we started to compete and tried to beat our highscores. Everytime I beat his, the next time he came over he beat mine again, up until the point where I thought “man, it's impossible to make it even faster“. I really love that memories, good times :)

Love this series so much, can't believe there has not been an F-Zero game since 2004.

One thing I never hear mentioned about F-Zero X is how well implemented the rumble support is. The intensity ramps up subtly as you start to lose traction and you can tell when you're going to lose control just from the vibration level. It's one of the only games where I've found rumble makes a tangible improvement to the gameplay.

Correction here, Super Smash Bros 64 and a few other games also ran at 60 fps.

F-Zero X was my first F-Zero game and I'm now a diehard fan of the franchise.

I haven't played snes F-zero, but my mind was blown when I saw how fast this game was! And driving upside down through tunnels and around those "snake" parts of tracks - looked so cool!
This game, Mario kart 64, Golden eye - most popular games in my local game room :-)

I wanted this game so bad imported it from Japan and played it all summer before the US received in the fall. — Worth noting at the time many hated the lack of detail despite it being necessary for the speed and FPS. — I’ll never forget one Cup X course I played that created a downward 90 degree turn that would kill all CPU cars. Hilarious!

I miss this series. It is very distinct from other racing games, and even other anti-gravity racing games. The absence of items or weapons puts the focus entirely on the driving skills of the player, and even the attacks have to be well executed. I'm not that good at it, but racing in this game (and F-Zero GX) is very satisfying. It's such a shame Nintendo is content with graverobbing F-Zero's features to add them in Mario Kart.

Also, it might be a small aspect of the game, but I love the characters in F-Zero X. Each one cooler/"badass-er"/sillier than the other, it's like a fighting game's roster!

While F-Zero GX on the Gamecube is the magnum opus of the series, this game is still amazing with a butter smooth frame-rate and an ass kicking soundtrack.

I really enjoyed F-Zero X. It was my most anticipated game back in 1998. I even got to play the game a few times before it's official release date, when my local Toys R Us had it playable. It was stunning to see the game run so smoothly at 60fps, since it was very rare to see console games to do that at the time, especially since games running at 60fps were more common on PC and arcade games.

I liked the track design, the wide variety of vehicles, and the gameplay most of all.
