Why Is Nintendo Doing This? F-Zero X Confirmed.

Nintendo have just announced that the 1998 N64 game F Zero X is coming to NSO, the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, on March 11th 2022. I'm a HUGE F-Zero fan and despite how happy I am that F-Zero X comes to NSO, it's not good enough. The last entry to the series was in 2004, 18 years ago! They said it themselves. F-Zero GX is flawless. I say it’s high time to bring it back, in HD, with online multiplayer and a wacky character creator. Granted, I’ve been saying that since the Wii U launched, but it’s still true

Since we play these N64 Games through their online service, I bet they monitor how many people actually play each individual Game to collect data that may effect future decisions. Perhaps if they see players are really enjoying F-Zero your wish may be granted 😉

Bringing F-Zero to NSO is finally gonna make me subscribe to it. I love this franchise. I was a beast at F-Zero X back in the day. Now it’s time to see if I still got the juice!!!

The biggest issue with a new F-Zero is that it has to either match X & GX or somehow top them both which Nintendo themselves is afraid of which is something I actually understand as an active player of both games (predominately GX).

GX has always been considered the cream of the crop, and it was actually made by SEGA's Amusement vision so if they cannot somehow match GX in terms of gameplay, sound design, course design, advanced tech, then the new game would be quite the disappointment to the community/fans. I've got a write-up that I need to revise that I posted on a forum that gives a complete thesis on what Nintendo could do if another F-Zero was released that addresses certain things we'd all like to see (Multiplayer, Multiplayer Time Attack for eSport Gaming, an In-Depth Replay Editor similar to Trackmania, etc).

There's tons of ideas around, so much potential, so easy to make a new F-Zero with fresh taste and Online Multiplayer, Track Editor, stuff like that. I guess Nintendo is just afraid to put any single coin in a franchise that might not totally explode.

Was bored and stumbled across this, hope we really do see some F-Zero soon on the Switch. Been burnt out for a long time now ever since I beat Master mode with every racer on every cup in X but I want to get racing again but in a new game.

Its so awesome when Nintendo actually listened to fzero fans and now we got a lot, fresh new port on switch as fzero x ones 🔥🔥

Absolutely agree. The online service is fine and all, but it'd be cool to see a new installment. Compile all the old tracks, put in new tracks, a track builder...local and online multi-player...they'd have a solid hit.

And if they're feeling particularly friendly...why not give us a collection? Snes, gba, n64 and GX in one package. Could be digital only and people would still dig it.

Nintendo also teases us with small tastes of what F-Zero could be in Mario Kart 8. Even the audio puts a smile on my face. Just make the game already!!!

Just got home from work noticed the Switch had an update and Bam, I haven't played it on the N64 in years and the raspberry pi I have doesn't work that well. This on the other hand looks and plays great, would love another F-Zero game. Hopefully Wave Racer and Beetle Adventure Racing isn't far behind now

Coming back to this a month later to recommend a revisit to HotWheels Unleashed. I had low expectations for it and surprisingly it’s giving me the F-Zero style gameplay that I’ve been missing. Did not expect that. Cheers buddy

Mario Kart is not the same every time, they always introduce something new:
64: New 3D physics.
Double Dash: Team racing.
DS: Online.
Wii: Motion Controls.
7: Gliders and Propellers.
8: Antigravity.

Nowadays: They ran out of ideas, and it's been nearly a decade since the last Mario Kart game came out... Home Circuit was cool tho!
