Stannis wasn’t wrong. He just put his faith in the wrong place and went a LITTLE coo coo.

Here's the AU I like: If Renly is a silk glove and Stannis is an iron gauntlet, what if Renly became Stannis' Hand, basically a silk glove for an iron fist. Renly's advice will make Stannis' rule suitable for all. This is before Robb become King in the North so they plead Stannis' as their king. Tyrells plans to wed Margaery to Joffrey but changes plan and continues with Renly as an alliance. Since it is 4v1 kingdoms, Dorne joins Stannis' for their revenge, Arryns join with Littlefinger still pulling their strings, and last one to enter are the Greyjoys serving as a navy for Stannis along with the Stannis fleet. Stannis fleet takes crownlands with Tyrells and Dornish marching from South. Greyjoy takes on the westerlands with the Starks, Tully, Arryns. Joffrey, Tywin and Cersei are killed, Jaime (one hand) is imprisoned but runs away with the help of Little finger. Tyrion, Varys, Myrcella and Tommen flees to Essos, and also Tyrion and Varys still becomes advisors for Danaerys (this is about series sorry). Renly dies in the war, affecting Stannis, Jon Snow is Lord Commander and goes to Stannis for help against IWs. Stannis turns a new leaf and shows his softness after going to Essos and makes a deal with Danaerys in aiding them against the IWs/the others and also due to the threat of Dragons, in exchange Danaerys gets the throne, Stannis wants to save Shireen and also Shireen does not want to be Queen and no male heir for Stannis. Stannis dies during the Long Night (probably even trying to save Shireen), Jon's Heritage is revealed by Bran, Jon gets Queen D preggo but remains as Lord Commander since no need for pardon cuz Robb is alive. Long Night ends with Jaime Lannister killing the Night King with Oathkeeper (Brienne got wounded and gives the sword). Jon goes back to the wall and some of the wildlings also join the watch. Queen D legitimizes her bastard with Jon. Tommen becomes head of House Lannister and starts restoring their Honor with Jaime's help. Myrcella marries the Martel heir that dude idk, Tommen marries Shireen (wtf lol). Theon becomes lord (no dick chop cuz Boltons didnt revolt), Euron becomes Master of Ships I guess idk, continue it if you want. just a wild dream lol

Not gonna lie, when I first watched the show years ago, I just couldn’t work out for the life of me who the fifth king was. When I researched and found out it was Balon Greyjoy, I pissed myself laughing 😂😂😂😂

I think it was said in feast that it wasn’t technically a war of five kings as Balon didn’t crown himself until after Renly was killed

the biggest irony was there was 3 person named baratheon after robert death trying to claim the throne. when robert himself doesn't really enjoyed being king, he only seek revenge for his crush and earn the throne as a side reward.
