After testing out the half-size Ranalah wheeling machine, I need to make some modifications to the design. So I called on my engineering friend, Paul, who has come up with a brilliant design plan...

What does a 71 year old woman in FL need to watch? Car building, machines for car building, and some very talented people who do it. I watch Dom the YT reruns of The Repair Shop and searched out his own channel. I have eclectic interests. Thanks for this channel Dom, I love your work, here in central Florida.

As a 3D printer, I can appreciate just how must work Paul has done to get the model looking so good.

Hats off to you both, but Paul - wow! So satisfying to see someone take so much pride in their craft. Love it.

That's fantastic - all the extra bits Paul did to solve some of the manufacturing challenges - what a great guy.

Dom, I can't believe what Paul has done for you! You literally could not have got to the stage you are at NOW, without him! He has given you the key to your next project, and made it so you can "just" print off, differing parts to see "what fits". When you get to the production of the moulds, you will have a pattern to follow! The man is a genuine 1- Off Production Engineer. He has thought through any mods he has made, to help you produce what you have seen inside your head, including ways to aid you with the production of the eventual product! Mind blowing, what comes from some people's heads, your's included! Oh if only there were more people like Paul, imagine what this country could produce? Thanks for getting him involved and for promoting his company to the world. I too would like to see some of the work he is offered. (Not that I would ever understand some of the thoughts that go with them)! Thank you for all the time and effort you have expended on this project, and I look forward to further insights into this project>

Hi Dom here's an idea
The shaft on the back of the upper wheel have a Morse Taper, the hole in the upper casting would also be a Morse Taper.
With a locking nut the upper wheel would be quick release.
The upper wheel can be increased in diameter.
When you change the lower wheel no need to lower it just remove the locking nut tap the Morse Taper shaft with a hide mallet the upper wheel will come out. Making changing wheels easy.
No need to alter your current casting.

tidy use of a small printer, , exceptional forward planning with the details, the butterfly holding pieces and the offset joints is impressive, thats a man whos turned a few corners and it shows.

That is impressive, Ive never seen 3D printing used to that extent. There is nothing like being able to touch your design compared with a 3D rendering.

What I like about this channel, besides Dom’s irrepressible good cheer and John’s willingness to dive in to anything, is the view into this huge pile of talent that exists in the world.

Did you see Country file? There was a chap using a planishing hammer to make model Salmon and similar. He looks like the ideal candidate for a half wheel.

What a legend Paul is. Dom you certainly know some awesome people. I look forward to seeing Paul on your channel again some day .. maybe 3D printing some bodywork designs for your Aero Engine beast 😁

I am totally in awe as to how you and Paul solved this problem. Especially with the design modifications to allow more accurate drilling of the bottom casting. Thanks for taking us on this journey. Another Paul but not as talented.

Love the printed jig to mark the centre of the hole.
We often use them, sometimes with a steel drill guide pressed into the plastic.
One suggestion would be to at a cutout on the front so you can see from above that the jig is fully in position.

Truly incredible use of 3D design. Practical, and not another toy boat!

Beautiful! A work of art preserving the proportions! Well worth printing the model to see how it fits. Nice job! Like the mega drill!

Dom's best video for ages. I love the juxtaposition of the cutting-edge 3D modelling and 3D printing being used to revive such old fashioned manual skills.
