Self-checkout is being adopted because it saves corporations money. They don't care about customer's waiting times and they definitely don't care that they're no longer providing jobs in the communities that they are part of. I'm sure that they'll still expect the tax breaks. Some municipalities in Canada have stopped gas stations from being self-service to force the oil companies to provide local jobs out of their disgustingly high profits and the same should be done here.

I think self checkouts are another excuse for companies to save money. I do not prefer check out. Never wanted it. Prefer an actual person. This is not in consumers best interest. Not to mention jobs lost. There are usually only 1 or two staff to assist several people which holds lineup. This is about money. Safeway has decided to replace plastic bags with paper and no handles. But if we want handles, we have to buy our plastic bags at our expense to bag groceries. Most seniors would find it very difficult to carry paper bags. We seem to be going backwards. Why not just charge extra for plastic bags. As a senior myself, and having physical restrictions with arthritis, not happy about these changes to customer service and choice of how we transport our groceries home. Not to mention, those same bags can be recycled, using as garbage bags as apartment residents find very useful. Instead of forcing sales of store garbage bags.

I will NEVER use self checkouts A) A lot of people get the price is wrong so you’re paying more on the item because you entered it incorrectly. B) so many people get the checkouts to break or they end up having troubles because people are too stupid to use checkouts to be honest
C) you were going to take away how many peoples jobs and those people rely on that job to feed their family to pay their bills I know you think that they’re just cashiers there the bottom of the pool but there are still people

Border guards going into Canada from the U.S. was a nightmare. I'm blonde, blue eyed, have an American passport, driver's license and American accent. I've never been out of the country. They kept me for over 5 hours and finally let me in. They treated me so disrespectful, like I should act guilty about whatever....?
