If you cannot believe the scriptures are the basis of all doctrines, then you open yourself up for any teachings of demons. Which is what Paul warned the churches to beware. He admonished to keep sound doctrine. 2Timothy 4:2-4 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove; rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

So it looks like the Professor here, doesn`t know whether he's saved or not. That is a very unsatisfying place to be. You have my sympathies professor. To remedy this, you need to investigate the technical aspects of spiritual re-birth. Once you have an understanding of how it works you'll get the assurance you're looking for. Love, joy and peace to all believers.

It's very simple, just believe what God says in His Word not what Catholic doctrine says which has no connection whatsoever. Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by Grace are ye saved through Faith; and not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast". In other words, it is impossible to do anything as a human being to earn salvation, it is what Jesus did not what we do.

So should I open the Bible and believe what it says or believe what the Catholic Church says? Only one can be the inspired word of God. There is a clear difference between the two.

Salvation is very simple: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved! Simply call upon Christ in faith and He will save you fully and forever in that same moment! See John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, and Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV.
God Bless:)

Wow. Darwinism and now Catholicism. Nothing did not create everthing and Catholicism is faith in works righteousness vs faith in imputed righteousness. No sale. This is a false gospel.

This reminds me of a Christmas with my Catholic in-laws. The husband of one of them converted to Catholic from Baptist. I am Baptist as well and that is known. Anyway, I overheard her talking about how the things he was learning was blowing his mind he knew nothing. lol! They act like Baptist are backwoods folks. 😒 I was beyond insulted. I will never consider converting now.

Oopsy, salvation is not by "faith" alone but by "grace" alone through faith.

Why did half the Roman Catholics leave this church during the Reformation? Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” And It wasn't until the 6th century that the Catholics declared a Pope. And the Ten Commandments forbids making statues. Exodus 20:4, “You shall not make for yourself a carved image-any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath… you shall not bow down to them.” Catholics teach that the priests actually turn the bread and wine into the actual body and blood of Jesus and this is why one can only be saved through the Catholic church. But Jesus simply said, "do this in remembrance of Me.” Luke 22:19 The Catholics believe that Mother Mary is the Queen of Heaven, that she is divine and has the power to forgive sins like Jesus. This is extra-Biblical. Rosary Beads... Jesus said in the Sermon On The Mount, “When you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.” Jesus said regarding elders of the faith, “do not call anyone on earth your father, for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.” Matthew 23:9. The Catholics state that they are the first church, making them the only true church. But the real church began at Pentecost and then they built the Church of St. James, which was Jewish, and St. Marks, which was Serbian. Apostle Paul traveled through out the Mideast, making converts all the way to Greece and Rome. They had small home fellowships hidden from the Romans for 300 years with no central church. When Emperor Constantine became a Christian c. 300 A.D.. he started the first organized church which was Eastern Orthodox in Constantinople, Greece. They built the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem c. 330 A.D. So, the Roman Catholic church is not the very first Christian church. And at the time of the Reformation they were trying to raise money to complete St. Peter's Cathedral, by selling forgiveness of sins. This was blasphemy. This is why I left the Roman Catholic Church and became an
Evangelical Christian.

Please read "A Woman Rides the Beast" by Dave Hunt---a well researched book about the history of the catholic church and it's prophetic part in these End Times.

The Church.
This man is lost without dogma.
The New Covenant creates no church, no dogma.
Luther got close to it, but no religious dogma preserves the word as felt in the heart of a believer.
Christianity is not a religion.
It is a way of life.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9). The Roman Catholic Church holds that the Church traditions of men as a higher authority over the Holy Bible. When Paul says "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling", he is NOT mixing works with grace like the Roman Catholic Church has always done. Taking the context of the verse is very important. Simply stated, Philippians 2:12 is not about doing good works to work for our salvation. No, Philippians 2:12 is about working out the desire and power we have because of our salvation to do good works. In other words, God is telling us to “work out” or exercise our salvation. He is saying, don’t just sit there being saved and do nothing to help others. No, exercise the desire and power that God has given you like someone knowing that those whom you esteem better than yourself do not suffer the fate that you would have suffered had it not been for the grace of God to save you through your faith. BTW, I used to be a Roman Catholic and had walked amoung them.

Roman Catholicism is a works based salvation and don't say it's not, read the CCC, It is no different than every other work based religion in the world. The righteousness that covers a believer is not a garment made up of patches of righteousness. Some of Christ, yourself and the church and on it goes. It is a one seamless garment made fully and completely of the righteousness of Christ. It is what Christ has done. It is His finished work. It is fully Christ on the cross and His Resurrection that saves. We must put our full faith in Christ, not some of your faith in Him and some of yourself.
