As someone who was pierced as a child and later developed a nasty metal allergy on my ears, I consider piercing babies to be abusive by nature.
The babies do not understand why you are hurting them, and most adults pierce their babies at home with mediocre tools that could cause awful infections, if not by the needle then by improper care as the wound was healing. It is incredibly difficult to keep that area clean when your patient is a literal toddler.

I myself was pierced by my grandfather with a sewing needle after it was waved over a fire when I was 2 months old; When I heard him describe how difficult it was to pierce me and how much I cried I felt violated. I don't know much about how allergies develop, but by 5 years old my ears would be covered in very painful rashes if I had any kind of metal in my ears, eventually my relatives gave up and stopped putting earrings in my ears.

I think the very fact that parents/relatives feel entitled to "pretty up" toddlers by making them wear earrings is inherently fucking gross and objectifying. Maybe I am biased by a lifetime of being unable to wear them myself, but I never really saw the appeal or need for earrings. That's not to shit on anybody that likes to do so, as long as it is your choice I don't give a shit, but telling little girls that they need to wear jewelry from a young age to make them pretty is fucking nuts, and I'm glad I didn't have to.

Piercings are a bodymod, no one has a right to change or modify your body but you, and if people choose to get their ears pierced (for various reasons) it should be their decision when they are old enough to do so and to give consent. Stop sticking unnecessary needles into your baby and having worthless moments of pride because "she took it like a champ", it's abuse.

The fashion show reminds me of a story i read about a few years ago.

Someone left a pineapple on a museum near the art exhibits.

For some reason, someone decided to put it on a pedestal and put a barrier around it.

People started to take pictures of it and discuss its meaning.

I have nothing else to add. I think the story speaks for itself 😅

I absolutely HATE parents who get their kids' ears pierced as babies. I also hate them more when they take them to places like Claire's that use piercing guns such as the one in the clip. They have minimal training, and the piercing guns aren't sanitized properly between customers. They also basically shove the piercing through your skin instead of a professional using a proper needle to set it. This causing trauma to the area and can lead to infection.
