Jim tried for years to avoid hanging out with Michael, and the day he wants to, he can't.

Season 1: "People say I am the best boss."

Season 7: "Best boss I ever had."

I love that throughout the entire show Michael takes every opportunity he has to call for attention, and when he's leaving, when he could have made a big deal and a huge dramatic exit, he tries to go out without anyone even knowing

Fun fact: The tears are real, both actors started to uncontrollably weep when they recorded this scene, in fact it took them 17 takes. You can even see that their eyes are already red and teary at the start of the scene.

"Best boss I ever had" - Jim Halpert. One of the most touching lines in the entire series.

It's amazing to see their "boss/coworker" relationship evolve into a "friend/friend" relationship over the years.

My very favorite thing about this episode is that in his sadness Micheal almost decides to stay, then Holly calls..and talking to Holly for a minute reminds Michael not what he is losing but what he is gaining moving to Colorado with Holly. He will miss his friends but she is his family now...
The one time Micheal need to be wise and brave, and he followed through beautifully.

Creeds line "see you tomorrow boss" really gets me. Something about creeds day to day life may seem boring to many, but he chooses to be at the office.

The empathy Jim shows for Michael here is beyond belief. He is so intuitive about how devastated Michael is about leaving the only place where he ever really had any "friends"

I literally broke down during this scene, this, when Dwight read Michael's letter of recommendation and when Pam said goodbye at the airport

I cried on this episode. The paintball fight and the letter for Dwight, the talk with Jim, the unheard convo with Pam; man this episode really hits hard. What added more was when Creed was raising his mug with the sign “WORLD’S BEST BOSS” then said, “See you tomorrow, boss.” never knew he’s not coming back.

This wasn't Jim saying goodbye to Michael. This is John Krasinksi saying goodbye to Steve Carell 😭

I'll never understand how Steve Carell never won an Emmy for his work on The Office. I'm not sure there's a better lead comedy actor over the last 30 years of television.

Jim saying, "Best boss I ever had, " was the perfect validation for Michael.

"Best Boss I ever had..."

Hands down, the best line of this scene. The way John Krasinski delivers it as well as Steve Carell's reaction was beautiful.

This is probably the most direct Jim's ever been to Michael lol. Basically any time the two interacted Jim was either being sarcastic or pranking him XD

Like any best friend Jim realized Michael's plan and went along with it and told him that it isn't goodbye forever because there'd always be tomorrow at lunch

The other emotional moment that no one mentions is when Michael is eating lunch in the break room, Jim comes in with others and asks Michael to join them but he declines, almost finished anyway. Then you can see the group talking amongst themselves and Michael in the background trying not to cry, knowing he will miss being there.
