World Science Festival co-founder Brian Greene met with theoretical physicist and WSF alum Lawrence Krauss in order to field some questions sent in about the Higgs Boson and the future of physics as we know it.

Original Clip Date: Dec.13 2012

The World Science Festival gathers great minds in science and the arts to produce live and digital content that allows a broad general audience to engage with scientific discoveries. Our mission is to cultivate a general public informed by science, inspired by its wonder, convinced of its value, and prepared to engage with its implications for the future.

Not everyone who has mastered physics are great teachers, but they, brian and Lawrence are one of the few excellent describers of concept of physics in simple language, i just wanted to say to them, thank you!!

I totally wish I could just sit and talk with Lawrence Krauss, even for like 10 minutes..

what causes some of the particles to feel this "drag"???why is it like that???

I watch this stuff all the time and I can’t follow any of it. I am VERY excited to see the progress on the Webb telescope though.

Higgs field is tachyon field of string theory of vacuum energy ch jump from QCD into QED Gev from rr decay.

Do you mean that the energy of hitting two proton at the speed of light is equal to higgs boson’s energy (which could transform to a mass ) ?

Do we know if the Higgs field started with the Big Bang or was the singularity of the universe interacting with the Higgs field pre Big Bang? (Does this question bleed ignorance of origin of the universe?)

Most matter formation is of the order of 1000. The others are intermediate. Higgs is something like fussion and some nuclear fission.

what exactly is the ratio of the protons to that of antimatter particles do you get higgs.

Can they spin any particle and gain mass as long as you control the spin.

If a photon's energy is equivalent to its mass and can be converted to mass, then when doing so are you forcing the photons to interact with the Higgs field? Surely the Higgs must play some part in the E=MC2 conversion.

Both of them are super awkward, specialy the end :D

so the mass of the Higgs is caused by the Higgs?

We should build a giant colider in space orbiting the earth. It would be a bitch to maintain but damn it would be awesome

Um, like what about building a #Nano accelerator? Use less #Energy! ;) #Design

So it turns out the dude on the left might be dodgy! In the words of Trump, Sad!

why is it that these science channels never get the audio to up to 0 dB?
