I’ve been learning Japanese for 10 months. This last month has been my busiest month (with non-Japanese things). So, my progress has been slight this month. I’ll be heading to Japan for the month of December and the final stretch of this challenge.

These kind of subtitles would be incredible for language learning in the early stages. I wish I could watch anime this way

Hey Buddy, started following your method from day 1 today and am beginning the same journey. Thanks so much for all your videos, they are really amazing! Spent sooo much time on the internet figuring out what works and what does'nt. Love how simple you have kept it and just put in the hard work! Impressive. Good work champ!

Hey. First off, congrats on your progress.

Second, I have a question about mnemonics. Have you ever run into the problem of using them up? I imagine this could happen with multiple kanji with similar meanings. But it could also happen with radicals. For instance, I might wanna use a cardboard box for 箱, but I can't because I've already used it for 冂. So I'm hesitant to use your approach of joining radicals into bigger shapes, because I could end up using up a lot of good mnemonics on shapes that don't even have a meaning.

And third, thanks a lot for starting this channel. I've wanted to learn Japanese for years, but never really knew what I was doing and never really did much. Then I heard about your project on Adam's live stream and looking through your videos has made a world of difference. I've been studying harder and smarter than ever and I've really got a good feeling about this.

Oh, and fourth, Sungazer's amazing.

Thanks for sharing your progress with us.. always happy to see you upload. There's something I wish to ask you.
How do you fare in understanding anime at your current stage?

Hey dude, nice work, I can feel the struggle, I have been studying for 2 months and I can sympathize as I notice we're pretty much at the same level (no intention of 1-upping you, I study like a madman, about 6 hours+ per day). One tidbit of advice and its just my 2 cents: try not to worry too too much about being grammatically correct with every conjugation, I did this a lot as well but in time, these conjugations will autocorrect themselves as you continue to immerse yourself in the language and speak to native Japanese speakers, I also alw ays ask them to correct me if they hear something incorrect.

Awesome! A great effort. I know how you feel - even after more than 10 years in Japan, using informal Japanese feels strange...

i really am a pest. i always come to watch your videos, and am left feeling jealous and inadequate. but finally im beginning to realize that all these feelings are unnecessary. they will not hurt your success, and they will not improve my language skills lol. not that ive ever hated on you, its just ive always been jealous that youre doing so well in short amount of time. when its taken me a much longer time, to be at the same level as you if not a little better than you (not trying to gloat).

but i was going to criticize your speech, and the patterns at which things are coming out and also your pronunciation.. but i would be what all the other english teaching japanese teachers hate. they always talk about how gaijin are always the most critical against other gaijin. and i feel bad for even feeling that way in the slightest towards you, because you are doing so well.

japanese people would definitely understand what you are saying, and just the fact that youre speaking japanese would move them so much. so criticizing you isnt very helpful, because your japanese works. and id say with time, things will smoothen out, speed will come (im definitely not critiquing you on speed, because not everyone has it.. i dont have it either, and that definitely comes after at least a year, so i cant hate you on that lol). but i guess ultimately i wanna say you won me over.. youre doing great in your studies, i want you to push really hard till the end of the year, youre getting busy, but dont stop:) keep it up!
