In this episode of "Permit Pro Tips", we are going to discuss Mechanical Department Permit Review Tips.

As part of the review process when applying for certain permits, one of the departments that will review your plans and any supporting paperwork is Mechanical. This department reviews and evaluates new permits. In Florida, they have the responsibility of interpreting the Florida Building Code – Mechanical Section during the plan review and also during mechanical field inspections to ensure a safe environment for the citizens of that particular city.

Hire a licensed and insured Mechanical Contractor when doing work on a property that involves mechanical work. Mechanical work is a specialized skill requiring extensive training and experience and you should not jeopardize your safety and those around you with lower quality work standards. In addition, you will not be able to get permits issued for mechanical work without a licensed and insured Mechanical Contractor.

Depending of the type of work that is being applied for you might need professional blueprints signed and sealed by an Architect or Engineer. For smaller type projects some building departments will allow the Mechanical Contractor to also create plans and have it Notarized.
