I don't get high no more
I don't seem to fly no more
I drink all the drinks but they don't do the trick
I do the same drugs but they just make me sick
I try and I try but I can't get my kicks
The way i did before

I don't live it up no more
I don't give a f#*k no more
There was a time I was Queen of the street
I'd strut and I'd stride but that shit got me beat
Now I can't deny that I can't compete
And frankly it's a bore

Lately I've been thinking about stuff
I'm quite relieved
To concede
I've think I've had
More than enough

I dont pray much no more
I don't say much no more
I'm tongue-tied and trite or I ain't got the wit
The words come out right but they don't seem to fit
I shout and I cry but I have to admit
It's all been said before

I can't get high no more
I can't seem to fly no more
Since you walked through my door

I don't live it up - no
I don't give a f*#k - no
I don't get high no more

And there's no need to pray - no
There's not much to say - no
Stuff ain't the way, stuff was before
You kicked down my door

I've seen people make timelines of the Crooner series, and since this is probably the last time we'll see our dear Mr. Rose, I wanted to go ahead and put this together; The Vapid Life And Unsurprising Death Of Valentine Rose, aka the full story of the Crooner as I see it. If we get a fifth Crooner song, I will be updating this.

Before we begin, I want to note that this will be going off of this timeline; Kix --> Me and Mr. Wolf --> Don't Get High No More --> The Show Must Go On. Now that that's out of the way, let's get started.

Valentine Rose was a man of many vices. When he wasn't dancing till dawn and drinking like mortality escaped him, he was spending... shall we say, quality time alone with any lady who had never heard his name. Valentine had no false delusions of him being a good man. He was a selfish, cruel, hedonistic disaster of a person, surprisingly well-hidden by his sharp attire and charming grin. One of the common things his past lovers called him was the wolf in sheep's clothing.
Now, while Valentine was well-versed in the pleasures of the flesh, a fulfilling, honest relationship eternally escaped him, mostly in part due to his gratuitous love of all manner of alcohol and drugs over other people. But the closest he ever got to true love was in a fancy, done-up prostitute he hooked up with on his way home one night, one that he accidentally ended up falling head over heels for. She was seductively manipulative, and hungry for attention whenever she could find it. The darkness in her eyes rivaled her lover's, and her dainty viciousness called to him like the booze never had. Finally, Valentine had thought, someone who can understand the way I get my kicks. Finally, someone I won't suck dry.
Valentine was right. Instead, she did it to him. Ate up every scrap of love he gave her and dumped him on the street corner when he had no more to give, just like he had for all of those girls in the past. Call it divine retribution, call it karma, whatever you like.
Valentine Rose was at a loss for what to do. He'd never felt so empty in his life, having always lived the life of the predator, rather than the prey. It destroyed him. He tried to return to his old hedonistic ways, but no amount of sex or liquor could compare to how he'd felt with her. It all felt so... hollow, and worthless. No matter how hard he tried, his days of carefree self-destruction were gone, replaced by a slow degradation of the body and mind.
But, thoughts about his own morality aside, Mr. Rose was by no means a humble man, and, too prideful to admit that he had been wrong his entire life, continued to boredly destroy himself, culminating in a cruise he went on because he could think of nothing else to do with his time, other than get wasted and cry about his one true love to some crusty barkeep for the third time that week.

Valentine hadn't known about the storm. He hadn't known how destructive it would be.
But when he caught word that the ship was sinking... well.
He didn't exactly try very hard to find a lifeboat.

I like how he can't seem to "fly" no more, but in Kix he stated that she "gave him wings so he flew". I also love the allegory of how his whole life seems fake, like he's an actor. Despite doing everything he did before he met the blonde from Me and Mr Wolf, he doesn't feel joy from it anymore. Despite him supposedly having the "wings" that would allow him freedom, it now seems worthless as the freedom to do what he wants is empty without the blonde. Also the locusts mean death and degredation, he slowly wastes away his life despite feeling no joy from his unsavory and damaging habits. I love the Tuesday Weld so much! So much material to disect!
Edit:something else I noticed, this song and the very end of Me and Mr Wolf are the only songs in the entire series when he isn't smiling.

For some reason The Crooner grinning while laying on the stairs is just hilarious to me. I swear I've seen that in person before.

So, it seems to me that the sisters represent alchohol/other vices, because they have control over Valentine(main char). He is on a set, a stage that is his life. They are the directors of that set. He is submerged and drowning in the glass that they hold, they are in control of a joystick as he is a character in the game, and they are on the boat that's in The show must go on. It is not "The Real Tuesday Weld feat. The Puppini Sisters", it's "versus The Puppini Sisters". He is fighting against them.

I know im like 5 Months late, but I think I know what’s going on:

We first start off with Kix, where the Crooner meets a girl, falls in love, then later dumps her after he doesn’t enjoy her anymore. At the end, he stares at the moon, this is him transforming into the wolf. The Wolf dates and dumps many girls, until he meets the girl in Me and Mr. Wolf.

The girl is just like him, dating and dumping many guys. The Wolf/Crooner falls in love, but the girl does not, and the girl breaks up with him. This “kills” the wolf and turns him back into the Crooner.

We then go to I Can’t Get High No More, which shows a broken hearted Crooner who can no longer get his kicks after the girl dumped him. The ending line “things aren’t the way they were before since you kicked down my door” refers to the girl in Me and Mr. Wolf entering his life and leaving it. The final scene on the boat brings us to The Show Must Go On.

The Show Must Go On is the hardest one to understand, but my thought is that “the show must go on” refers to him going back to his old ways after getting over the heartbreak. In the end his human form drowns and dies, leaving only the Wolf to forever date girls only to dump them once he cant get his kicks out of them.

That’s my interpretation of the story.

SOME MORE FUN FACTS:

• Only specifically an eye-moon(which i presume is sort of a full moon) turns the crooner into a wolf

• Drinking alcohol calms him down and prevents him from turning into the wolf, but eternal hangovers is the consequence :c

• The clarinet player is a fish for some reason here and in *me and mr wolf*, but a human *in the show must go on*

"The words come out right but they don't seem to fit" yeah, that describes perfectly the crooner and his smile

My name is Rose Valentine, and that’s how I got introduced to this timeline and story. I will never regret finding out about this series. I absolutely love the timeline and his lifetime. My friends usually mocked me around by telling I was the big bad wolf or something like that, and since I didn’t understand, they introduced me to this. Please keep doing this, this is amazing!

I have never been into alcohol, or drugs, or even cigarettes. But somehow this song is very relatable for me. If you replace these things with such a term as inspiration, and imagine how joyful it was to have it before, how you did the things you loved for yourself; but now your drawing / writing / music has turned into your work, and you do it because you have to, however you don’t feel really inspired anymore. For me, as an artist, this song symbolizes just that.
