"Peter, I know these last few months have been hard for you. But I’m going to a better place and I will be okay, and I will always be with you. You are the light my life. My precious son. My little Star-Lord."

My best friend died of cancer last year listening to this song at the time of his death, it was his favorite; I can't help crying when I hear this

Leaving this comment so that whenever someone likes it I'll comeback and listen to this masterpiece

They did such a good job of making Peter's mom a character through the soundtrack. Just knowing that it's a mixtape means each song she put on it was either meant as a message to her son or a song that meant a lot to her. Makes her feel like a real person that we can see the same way StarLord does. Can relate cause my own mother shared a lot of songs from her childhood with me. The fact that Peter went so long without this final message from her makes me cri evertim.

Fact of life: you inherit your parents taste in music esp sitting in the back seat of your mum's car. Hearing any of it is pure nostalgia. Thank you mum for having amazing taste, you gave me great start to life

Man, I wish people would appreciate the bass line of this sing song like bass players do. It is a master piece by James Jamerson on the bass. What a tune!

This song is really special to me. When I was 16 and attended my first school dance with a girl I really liked, this is the song my brother sang, who at that time was in the school band, and this the song we danced to. The rhythm still dances in my mind to this day, and the funny thing is, even though she became my girlfriend and broke up with me later, we are friends now, and we still talk about that dance. Special thanks to my brother for his beautiful vocals and the band's skill to making the cover of this classic even more beautiful.😁😁😁😁😁

I've heard this chorus so many times throughout my life, but this is the first time I sat down and listened to the full song. What a treat.

It feels like Marvin and Tammi have so much passion that they have to actually hold back as they sing their hearts out in this recording. Microphones and mixers couldn't handle that much volume back then, but it adds another flavor to the vocals. I can only imagine what it would have felt like to hear them sing this live. No microphones.

Today, I'm thankful I got to hear all of this song for the first time.

Almost tear worthy the way this song came on. The letter, loading the tape, pressing play and then Mr. Gaye.

This song touches my heart in so many was..I had a boyfriend at 16yrs old...high school sweethearts...We broke up.. I went on and had a new boyfriend and married him...a year later when I moved away with my new husband, I found out that my ex boyfriend committed suicide. When we were together he always told me how this was his top #1 song...I think of him a lot and my heart cries that things in his life were so bad he had to end his life...This song for me will always hold a special spot in my heart for him. RIP Robert..you are loved still and missed so much. I just wish I could talk to you one more time.

My Mom was a teenager during the 1960s and she knows about Motown and this Romance Ballad. If I ever get married I'll be playing this song at the reception.

This song reminds me of my mom who passed on her tape to me before she died and said I was destined to save the galaxy

One of the Ten Greatest Songs of All-Time. No, I'm serious. Vocal harmonies, musical arrangement, tempo, lyrics, Soul. A perfectly engineered masterpiece. I've already played it like 15 times in a row...
