Poor bacteria getting hit with the St. Ives Scrub. At least the next generation of teens will have the much nicer Kylie Skin Care Scrub to do that...

The stuff my parents bought me as a teen were similar to what you used... it was horrible. First, my mom got me this neutrogena scrub thing that literally took the skin off my nose. Then my dad gave me some sort of witches' brew made from "natural ingredients" that was full of those scary walnut shell pieces. It was like rubbing a box grater on my skin. It's a miracle I lived through it.

After lancing a pimple, I put a hydrocolloid dressing over it (I use Duo Derm Extra Thin). Makes it heal faster.

You’re spot on with the picking and mirrors! I used to pick so much more when I was at university and was stuck studying in my room for long periods.

For me niacinamide has really helped reduce the amount of spots I get, but also fades the red marks from spots much much faster than without.

I started changing my pillowcase regularly, I can confirm that it works SO WELL. I used to have pretty severe acne all the time, figured out to change my pillowcase more often, and the acne is noticeably reduced.
I got two prescription topical ointments as a teenager and they were terrible. Like, I guess they worked, but they burned my skin so badly I didn't want to use them anymore. So then imagine you have skin that already feels like it's burning and thin but also you live in Florida (where the sun beats down heavily on your face every day).

Dealing with acne is part chemical and part mental, but actually mostly behavioral. We get better at this. 💪

Differin gel has been the best treatment for my hormonal acne flare ups! I also like using the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid about 3x per week to help exfoliate and keep my pores clear.

Tretionin and niacinamide and gentle cleanser helped with hormonal acne, but I still got one or two during that time of the month. Honestly nothing else.

Omg, bless you for pointing that sqeezing is ok when you do it correctly. I am so irritated at how many people still believe that sqeezing is absolutely forbidden no matter what. It can really work miracles when done right.

I have a huge problem with PICKING! This is what causes and exacerbates my facial skin problems more than anything. It comes from and anxiety and dopamine place, I definitely feel the addictive and compulsive urges associated with it. I found that acne patches help except for when... i pick them off! And of course therapy helps to be more aware of the behavior but still.. It would be awesome to see a whole video about this!

The biggest difference for my skin was washing it in the shower, not sink.
I double cleanse using a hydrofil oil followed by a gentle cleanser. But when I used to wash it by the sink, I didn't clean my skin properly. Now, I put on a shower cap and wash my face in the shower.
I also recently added a hydrating toner.
My active anti acne ingredient is a lotion with salicylic acid.
