Holy shit this was exactly what I was looking for! Nice work :)

By the way you introduced me to the Yes line of snowboards and the Yes Basic was the best snowboard I ever rode!

This season I got the Yes Basic Uninc and I am stoked! It is just my third season though. Should I have gotten the Typo instead?

Bought this for my 9 year old daughter, and my 6 year old daughter loves it too. Great purchase!

Interesting review and glad to be able to engage (unlike your previous videos with comments off).

I have the Burton SO system. The original version with Ion boots. I have also tried the Clew bindings as given a long term demo and the original flow bindings to compare (I'm guessing the predecessor to the nidecker bindings).

Personally I like the Burton set up as did another friend of mine but has flow bindings and prefers them, though the issue with flow is that you need to tweek then for your boot etc which can take up a bit of time. My other friend preferred the Clew binding as he is a very aggressive carver but I hated them with a passion because...the rubber on the sole of the release part is very hard so up a poma or icy conditions they slide away. This is something I have never experienced with my step on boots. The riding experience on the Clew wasn't at all bad but just felt like a very old binding from the 90s or earlier that is heavy and not dynamic at all! There is no flex in them and coming from the likes of Salomon Shadowfit or the Burton Cartels they just feel dated!

There is a video on my channel riding them side by side. But every opinion/review is subjective as what's for me and my style of riding might not be for everyone.

I have the StepOns EST / Photons from a few years back and found them too responsive. They've been on the shelf and I might look into the W23 Genesis since they are softer.

Thank you so much for the in depth review. I've taken the plunge into the step-on generation after my old Snakeskin Ions final stopped letting me Gorilla glue the toe back on. I appreciate the time you've taken to do this review for mortals

Great detailed comparison, thank you! Makes me really comforted that my prior decision of the Genesis bindings with the Photon boots was the right choice! :)

Still have a set of Switch step in boots and bindings... nice review on the new stuff!

Great review as always. The best set up imo is Mine77 EST step on with self-upgraded 2nd gen toe hooks + Step on Ion. The responsiveness and the board feel are unparalleled. The only thing is I had to sacrifice another pair of Step Ons and move the 2nd fen toe hooks to the Mine77 EST step on since they only came with the 1st gen toe hooks.

Great video, I bought the new Step-On bindings reflex, i have not been able to find the genesis in size small. So hopefully I will be happy!

I bet you could add some kind of foam absorber or something Custom to the boots

So would the regular step on binding be in between the X and the Genesis?

Looking for decent response as a rider, like to charge and carve on groomers hard pack for the most part while also playing around here and there. (No park)

Went and tried on the store. I noticed that when the boot was in the binding, I had a little play between the boot and the binding. So far that I could feel the gap when moving the boot from heel to toe. Not that I felt the boot was going to go out but rather that there was a gap on the hold. Found it annoying and turn off, but wonder if the binding needed an adjustment that the store was not able to tell me. Is this something you noticed or was the particular binding I tried.

As always, this review took the deep dive that so many reviewers just don’t do. It definitely helped me in going with the genesis stepons/first stepons, and the ions (but considering photons). However, I’ve noticed after clicking twice in the heel, the give of the cushion from the base of binding, the cleat has give / gap when I go from heel to toe. I can feel the click from the gap. Is this something you’ve noticed with the 2023 or even previous models? Ive seen some YouTubers and Reddit takes on it, but I value the Good Ride’s perspective.

What you would recommend between the 3 step
In bindings?

Great video, perfect level of detail! I just bought the Genesis bindings, will receive the Photon Soft boots next week… have you managed to get some testing on the Photon Soft boots? Thanks for all the great reviews!

Can you please do a review on Nidecker and Clew bindings separately? Would love to know more about them 🙂

Is there any update/change Burton did to this year's regular Step-on bindings?

Can you explain how there is less adjustability in them? I understand the lack of having a strap you can tighten but can't you just loosen your boot a little. Also how is the mounting on none burton boards with the plates on them. Every video I have seen is step ons mounted on burton channels. Can you not adjust the angle they are mounted at on non-channel boards? (I haven't bought gear since 2013 so I'm a little out of touch with this stuff) Thanks for the videos! They are also very informative.
