Ex national-level sprinter here. I've just reached 70 and am still able to clock a decent time. Look after yourself and you will too! Seventy is not so old these days - there are people in their 60s winning the open category in brutal mountain marathons...

I ran track in high school and college and at 70 that’s probably faster than 99% of us out here.
For the record, with asthma, I still managed a 52.7 in the 440 yard hurdles because the metric wasn’t implemented across the USA at the time which is longer distance than the 400 which is 2 1/3 meters shorter so about 3 tenths,
That’s on a cinder track and the winner hit his 7th hurdle that landed in my lane which I had to avoid to finish the race.
I took 2nd against him and first against the other school as this was a Tri meet.
He never got disqualified and was the State champion at the end of that year.
Still my proudest moment of my Track n Field years. Had I known my breathing issues was due to an asthma affliction, I could’ve gotten medication and I would’ve probably run much better but that’s history. Gotta let it go.
