Why not shift before riding the rev limiter

That was not as satisfying to watch as I had hoped. Great idea, and design, but the tires \ shifting were frustrating to watch \ hear.

Paddle shifter on the steering wheel and don't need a clutch once you're moving, some taller tires on the rear would be a lot quicker too

Not even close. Way back in the late 60's I saw a turbine powered go-kart hit 220 mph plus at Willow Springs International Raceway. A few months later he did the same thing at Sebring International Raceway. The guy who owned the go-kart said he still had plenty of power left, just not enough track to do it on. His lap times at Sebring were faster than the formula one cars that were racing that day. I also saw a guy once that had a 1, 000 cc Kawasaki engine on a go-kart. I think he was in the 180 plus range with that.

Pulls to the left because the sprocket is on the left. Would be a cool design to have a central sprocket or direct drive.
