The novel follows the story of Simon, a young man battling severe depression and undergoing a major existential crisis. Simon no longer sees any purpose or meaning to life. His nihilistic world view has consumed him and as a result he has become a social recluse, developed debilitating anxiety and has destroyed all significant relationships. Simon is recommended to undergo Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and begins seeing the therapist Linda, who is trying to help bring his life back on track.

The book itself is a compilation of Linda’s therapy session notes and Simon’s journal log. This is the story of a young man’s journey of self-creation and the search for meaning in an absurd universe.

Excellent reading! I’ll be getting this book. We all despair at times for various reasons. Most of us, I think, wrestle with trying to find a meaning for our life. I understand why many feel we have no meaning, that we are just a random collection of atoms in a “bag of meat”. I would urge you to challenge this view, though. The odds of you or I being here is one in four hundred trillion. There must be a reason for each of us to be here. We have to find what brings us joy, and that, I believe, will lead us to the reason that we are here. Even if you haven’t found your life’s purpose yet, remember this. You are, indeed, a collection of countless atoms, but, in you, they have “awakened” to become a living creature on a vibrant, beautiful planet! You are stellar ash, built from the death throes of distant, ancient stars, that became a conscious being! What an unlikely, amazing miracle!

I've been there and i am still "somewhere" around that but for some reasons, i am at peace, and i want to keep going like that.
I don't accomplish much and i don't have a very valuable job. But i have less stress, i have pleasure in my life, i appreciate my friends and familly very much EVEN IF i know this is just me CHOSING TO CARE. I'm just there, living, being, feeling... enjoying while i can.
