I totally agree with everything you said. I am originally from Spain and over there, the blinds are in such a way that when you pull them fully down, the room is pitch dark black. I remember sleeping so well.
Life happens and we moved to the UK, where my sleep's been altered as a result of the room not being pitch dark black. I tried it all, even the sleep mask and whilst it helped, like you have explained, our cells seem to catch up on any light that there is entering the room and BOOM sleep is interrupted.
I realized that while in the UK, my sleep is worse in the Spring and Summer months (for the light and the heat in the Summer) and hahahaha believe me, I can't wait for Autumn and Winter to arrive because I sleep much better although not perfect.
I have recently started to take magnesium supplements, apparently I tend to lack this mineral and I wonder why that is so, or if it is related to the worsen sleep since we moved to the UK???
There is nothing more beautiful than getting refreshing sleep and getting up full of energy and vigor. Is there anything other we can do to have this magical waking and getting up experience??
