Episode 93: Fishing Tactics to Help You Bag-out on Snapper!

#snapperfishing #jetskifishing

It's Snapper season and it seems that is all we can catch currently at the local reefs. But they can be tricky at times, and fishing the various depths needs different tactics sometimes to enable you to bag out!

The local species are called Pink Snapper, and although they can be found here all year long, at this time of year (June) they come in close the coastline in big numbers for spawning sometime in July/August. The bigger ones are rare in close to shore except at this time of year when we see decent snapper being caught right up to the very shallow waters.

The video explains the very basics of the fishing from a boat or jetski- the different equipment, lures, and bait, and the some simple techniques to help guarantee success for the newbie. Hope you get something out of it! The same float-lining techniques work on many other species, and also can keep your baits away from the bottom-pickers. But maybe not the sharks!

Great video and we call it setting the hook but striking the fosh sounds like fish abuse lol. Good to see you on the water again.

What an awesome video Paul, thanks for sharing your knowledge, looks so peaceful out there....Are you east of the islands or in the bay?

I’ve watched all the video’s and planning to go with the 2022 FXHO with the hull changes for the build. Between your build and gcskijet, I appreciate all the work you’ve done. I’m really interested the tubbies and how you feel they effected the ride and stability. I’ve looked at 3 different models and really like the work and thought in the shoreline. I first saw them in South Africa and would love to get them into the Pacific Northwest of the US. I’d really appreciate your opinions. Regards, Mike
