Mark Making and Monoprinting using a Gelatin Plate and Junk! Part 1

UK based experimental creative looking to find her own unique style, hoping that by creating inspirational videos of her arty experiments it will encourage not only herself to keep going, but others to have a go!

In this video I’ve used cheap paper (why waste good paper when you’re just starting out?) relatively inexpensive paints, and practically free tools, mostly made from junk or household objects. OK the gelatin plate did cost a bit but I consider I’ve already had my money’s worth. There are of course videos on YouTube for how you can make your own (which I have also tried).

I’ve learned a lot while making this video, to record less each time (the editing has taken all day) and to try to be less self critical! Both seem almost impossible but the idea is to make more art, not to spend more time sitting at a computer…editing!

Supplies list:

Any acrylic paint;
Any paper, printed, plain or collaged;
Any object with a texture/shape which will make a mark;
Roller/brayer.
