This demo shows how to work with the monoprinting process to explore the potential of mark making and how you can apply this to your own work. I will explore this further in future videos to look at how this will work with non abstract compositions, such as a still life, landscape or even portraits.

FREE monoprint now included with each order of the monoprinting booklet (limited supply)

This is a very simple process to try and the most important thing to remember is always use very small amounts of paint, you can always build up the layers but if you add too much paint at the start it will be difficult to work on the composition. Always try to work with good quality oil paint as the cheaper paint tends to be to be thin and contain too much oil. I use Winsor & Newton for this demo and find the quality ideal.

Oh, stop it! Oil paint is basically the only art supply I don’t own at this point, and now i have to try this! Lovely result ❤

your videos are restful, without music, just the gestures and the noise of the paper tearing, the friction of the ink. I love it

thank you for sharing your creative process! The torn newspaper edges and fine skewer lines are a lovely contrast to the "messy" marks. Your videos are encouraging particularly because they are unintimidating. Your compositions are powerfully suggestive.

I love your method of mark making -- I find it lends authenticity to the finished piece. One should see evidence of the artist in a work of art. Thank you for making this demo.

Thank you for sharing. Maybe you have inspired me enough to get my paints out the tub and onto paper. 🤗

outstanding process and result as always. is there a video where you talk about the materials used for your work? I am especially interested in the paper, as I am always trying to do this on a budget, I want to buy suitable paper ( quality and haptic as well as looks and usability) in bulk..

I love the fine lines in your prints and have been trying to replicate this effect in my own work — without success. I have applied ink to various thicknesses of recycled plastic (such as a used potting soil bag). When draping it lightly over the paper to begin making marks, the paper surface grabs the entire sheet, transferring so much ink that any line work is obscured. Wondering what sort of plastic you are using here that stays light and seems less sticky. Thank you!!

Dan que tipo de papel usas ya que se limpia tan fácil? Amo tu trabajo

Hi Dan, so enjoyable, thank you! How would you use this technique on a large scale? Having the printing plastic on the table and paper on top? Can’t think of any other way, say for A3 size?
