Honestly, the idea that the church just made up stuff is pretty simplistic, I mean, faith is a journey, not a one-time revelation, right?

I asked my Presbyterian dad, “Dad, if Calvinism was true, then why was that not taught for the first 1500 years of the church?” Crickets.

As an ex-Lutheran, you can find plenty of Scripture that supports the Catholic view of Mary.

-The Hail Mary is literally Angel Gabriel's own words to Mary in the Book of Luke. Even the angels revered her as uniquely "full of grace."
-John 19 makes a good case for not just Mary being an ever-virgin, but the Church's mother as commanded by Jesus himself. Disciple John took Mary into his home on Jesus command (why not one of the "brothers and sisters" of Jesus if they were around?) and Jesus says to Mary to treat John like her own. After this, she is present at Pentecost with the other Disciples.
-Revelation speaks of a woman clothed with the moon and stars, whom the dragon (Satan) wishes to devour the child of, but fails to. This reflects not just Mary, but the promise God made to Eve, that her offspring would crush the serpent's head.

Also, there's the obvious fact that the Early Church LOVED Mary, and spoke just as highly of her as Catholics do still today. I'm not afraid to embrace her and learn from her obedient example if it's what Christians were doing long before Protestantism.

The better answer would've been that the Marian dogmas can be seen throughout history. Pius XII didn't make up the assumption from thin air.

I'm in a small historical re-enactment group. We have a very strict core ethos and telos, but we have nothing written down and there are no disagreements, we're all on the same page.

I'm also in two larger National and International Groups, they have everything written down. People are always disagreeing and there are constant updates on policies.

There's been some dwvelopment in church theology, but most of the stuff written down in the first 1000 years is to clarify things that were always known and eatablished as the church grew bigger.

Praying to Virgin Mary is also way older than people think it's not something new

The only thing I don't like about this argument is that it is on the same track as the argument I heard in the Assemblies of God Church about what they believe. It was revealed at Azusa St and we FINALLY got it right after Catholicism messed it up for so long. I'm Catholic, now, but I don't think certain evangelicals would buy this argument for Catholicism.

Creating a doctrine where belief in marian dogmas is necessary for salivation is outside of the scope of the gospel message of salvation and entry into the church.

I dont think the issue is the revelatory nature of doctrine but that certain doctrines are deemed infallible and have anathema attached to them when those same doctrines were developed overtime

Was watching 1956 10 Commandments movie and the gradual reveal of the plan is evident. They had 1 actor play the ever doubter for Isreal and he just shows the doubt everyone up to today has about Gods plan throughout the movie. It's a pretty good watch if you haven't watched it.

The Church always believed them, only later it was insisted upon. Verified.

Does the Catholic Church not teach that public revelation has ended anymore?

It's not about the time it took to elevate Mary and call for prayer to her, it's that its unbiblical

The Church grows like a mustard "seed" Amen! The problem is, though, some Catholic dogmas do not have even the seed form

Actually the gospels have apostolic authority. As primary witnesses of Christ, these documents have more authority than edicts of the church.

To have everlasting life you absolutely must trust in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.
