For clarification, we have been using Google Calendar together as a family for years. It has always met our needs and it’s difficult to imagine going through a day, let alone a week, without it.

In 2017, Google introduced Google Families: The ability to create a “family” within the Google ecosystem and share a calendar as such. While Google Family introduces a lot of benefits across the Google suite of solutions, like shared cloud storage and the ability to monitor your kids’ electronic activities, the “Google Family Calendar” is essentially just a calendar that is shared automatically with your family (assuming you’ve already “created” your Family within the environment).

We enjoy the flexibility of deciding who, exactly, has access to each calendar we use on a regular basis (family or not) and haven’t seen a need to create a “Google Family” yet. To be honest, we didn’t even know the concept existed when we created the video. It was, of course, never our intention to deceive anyone when we created the video or settled on a title, but if you’ve come here looking for information on “Google Family Calendar”, specifically, I’m afraid this video is slightly off topic. That said, most of the advice for how to use the calendar itself is still applicable.

Went to 5:37 and there appears to be more to it than just typing in the other persons contact email!.. I have tried this numerous times and rebooted both devices (both are samsung galaxy phones). You make it seem like that's all you do but please share the rest of the info! Thanks
p.s. does it merge the calendars when and if i finally get it operating? I checked out another set of instructions and after you input the other contacts email it says to select send... NO SEND BUTTON!
